Is your wife......

Im a big fan of I'm going hunting see you later!!!

I do take her hiking and shooting with me regularly but for me doing the things I love, fondling and using guns and knives, hunting, shooting and being outdoors is what keeps me sane, I dont hassle her about shopping(which I despise) and she doesnt hassle me about doing the things I like so when I go out I get full enjoyment without nagging.

I think to the longer your with someone the more used to them you get, she thought my bad temper+ knives and guns was a bad combo at first but after years of ranting on about knives, guns and pub fights she has learnt alot and her knowledge and skills put many men to shame.

Also I think the more you expose her to your hobbies the more she will come to enjoy them, keep at her mate and she will come round eventually

I don't know what you're talking about......Oh wait.....you asked if our wives think we're crazy? In that case mine thinks I am, and she tells me all the time. :D She has threatened to call people to take me away in a white happy coat to a padded room. I think that she is starting to understand though. After the tragedy that happened in Japan, she is slowly realizing that it is important to know how to do certain things and to know what to do if something happen and being prepared for those things. I'm now working on a home survival kit to have in case something happens 'round here.

It's all prospective and knowledge. If she knows why then she might be a more open to what it is that we do. My wife is slowly coming around.

heck no. the wife loves fishing, hiking, camping, backpacking and to top it off, we live off grid in the mountains of montana. she goes snowshoeing or hiking everyday for exercise. she also owns 7 knives, two guns and can out fish most men i know.
plus...she and her best friend go every year on a 'girls' backpacking trip for 10-12 days in a designated wilderness area in MT or ID (they rotate) while on these trips she carrys her pistol on her pack for all the world to see (thus a pistol packing mama-except we don't have any kids). her and i have logged a few hundread miles in the back country of MT,WY,ID,HI, and AK. heck, our honeymoon was spent backpacking and fishing for a week in the bob marshell wilderness.
she's a badass...and she's hot...:)

Glad someone's livin' right :thumbup::thumbup:

My wife used to know nothing about fishing, hunting, hiking etc. Now she loves all that stuff. I took her and the kid next door perch fishing last sunday and they both had a great time. Unfortunatley she caught the biggest and most perch;). She had the best time when the big one she caught decided I was a patch of eggs and released its sperm all over me....she didnt know what it was and when I told her she must have laughed for 10 mins flat. She still wont put a worm on or take the fish off the hook but I am just glad she's out there with me and supports and supports buying more stuff.

She was especially giddy when I bought her a pink fishing rod of her own that lights up when you use the real. I also bought her a T.C Encore (short stock version she's only 5ft tall) as she is getting very into hunting now. She wanted her own gun so I got her one that can be 3 diff guns and she loves the feel and look of the encore.

She still wonders about me when I practice making traps when we are bumming around the farm or when I want to sleep outdoors without a tent. She's also not a fan of me playing with me ferro rod indoors . But she's come great strides from being a brooklyn/pocano/philly girl who never fired a gun or walked in the woods more than 10ft.

Question for ya'll with outdoor women. Do you ever notice they over dress or are constantly cold? I am out there with a T-shirt on and she's got 3 shirts and a sweater on and still cold......Guess its a woman thing.

Here's a pic of her with her 11inch perch (one of many but the first of the day). She was super excited to catch it.

if i bought my wife a pink anything she would laugh and then burn it. to each his own though. at least she's geeting out with you.
the wife dosen't over dress. she grew up in ID so she knows all about the proper ways to keep warm. layering!
i lucked out; the wifes parents carried her and her brother on many extended backbacking trips when they were kids (were taking starting when they were 5-6). hell, they did the teton crest trail in WY( its a multiple day hike, which we've done togeather as well. it ain't an easy hike either, topping out at 11300') when she was six carrying her own gear on her back and staying in her own tent with her YOUNGER brother which carried his own gear too. i've seen pics!
it didn't hurt that her dad was a scout troop leader for years...
she didn't know anything about fishing and guns until she meet me though;)

Like mine in the fact that she thinks your crazy for while hiking you want to do a little fishing with your newly made but not yet tested survival fishing kit? Mine likes hiking with me but says I am taking it to extremes or acting like "survivor man" because i want to sart a little fire to boil water for our backpackers pantry lunch a do a little fishing. She always says "its not necessary when we can just go up the road and get a burger". Am I the only one this happens to. Oh yeah and she thinks that if you own one knife that is enough.

I've used the purse analogy with my wife. Why do you need so many knives? Why do you need so many purses ? I need different purses for different activities. EXACTLY !!!:D

As far as the fishing goes with your survival tin. Get her involved, make a contest of it. Maybe shes just standing around while your sharpening your skills with nothing to do. See who can catch the first fish. Worked with my wife.

One thing that usually works with women is if you tell them they can't do something. When she complains about your survival fishing kit, just tell her that it's a man thing and she's jealous because she can't do it.

Just be happy with her getting into it, because if she's like most of the women I've done that with, they out fished me quite well. So be happy she's into it and don't let your ego get bruised when she feeds you that crow sandwich.

thank god i don't have to worry about any of this/that crap...
my wife is more of a 'man' than most 'men' i know...
plus she's a 120# hot box;)
the west is the best...:)
