Just wanted to update this thread. Archer59 returned the knife. I issued him a full refund.

I returned the knife to Benchmade. Just opened the returned package and it contained a brand new, sealed in box different knife.

Opened and inspected this one. It checks out.

So thank you @Benchmade for that, as it was unexpected.
