It finally happened....I lost my knife

I ISKRA Žan, sorry to hear that but I'm glad you were using it:cool: Pity I don't have another one for you....but have you tried using a really powerful torch (flashlight) and looking under the seats or down them in your car? Cars can really swallow stuff up:eek:

I lost a very nice Chambriard le compact with some very decent Stag about 5 years ago. Think it was at some hotel, it's now closed down...;)

Thanks, Will

God forbid, Will!!! I'm afraid I turned the car upside down (and it's not a big car), sadly to no success. It sure was a great user though. The next run of 66s came out shortly after and I got one of them to sort of replace it. Apropos, is it just me or did they use to polish the backsprings more a few years back than they do now?

[…]

I'd love to hear your stories about lost favorites. Maybe take my pain away, or maybe just share in our woes together.

Ok, you asked. I "lost" a (traditional ballpoint) pen once. Found it many months later. It was in a field jacket I used over the long weekend when I lost track of the pen, and I had checked the jacket when I first missed the pen. But it was way down in a pocket and I somehow didn't feel it when I checked. But when the weather got cooler and I started using the jacket again, I found the pen.

I couldn't figure out how I could have lost that pen. I was a long holiday weekend, traveling, hotel room, staying with son and his wife...but I always check myself and the surroundings before moving or leaving a place....I wracked my brain....couldn't figure it out. But I put the pen in the jacket pocket and just didn't remember doing it. And I didn't lose it after all.

So..... I'm also the type who doesn't loose things. And in this case with the pen, after all, I didn't.

Your knife may turn up.

Sigh. I did manage to lose this jack knife from Don Hansen just as the W2 blade was getting a nice patina and the bark ivory was getting buttery. A great cutter and a tragic loss. Lost in the high school wrestling room many years ago, I think.

I remember when you lost that one Mike, a crying (for real) shame.

I lost a Buck 110 I had been given for Christmas when I was about ten. Took the bulldogs for a walk around the farm and it must have fallen out of my pack.

Lost a beautiful John Lloyd Lannys clip in amber stag playing hide and go seek with my whole family on the farm.

A couple of Case peanuts went missing, along with a Case mini copperlock that I loved.

Also had a house fire many moons ago and lost a large assortment of customs and factory knives.

Okay, maybe I'm a slow coach.... but aren't those pocket knives??? Wha...? Are they trying to say that ... Is it a gag photo...? Huh... You must elucidate ....

Sorry for your loss.

I’ve been pretty lucky in that in about 50 years other than the cheapies I lost as a kid I hadn’t lost many. Then I lost big 2 custom Pat Crawford knives and a nice Italian Stainless Damascus. Find anothe to fill the void. You’ll never be happy otherwise.

Thanks Jerry and Gary. I was loading the pictures up for that post when my son walked by and he said "Didn't you lose that a long time ago?" To which I replied: "Yes, and I'm still not over it." But I am a lot more careful (or paranoid) since then.

Lost a Northwoods Calico Burnside Jack while out buying some winter tires. 100% certain it was at the tire shop, circled back within 20 mins and it was nowhere to be found. The employees swore they had not seen it.....

Lost a CRKT m-16 that was a gift ,but in horrible condition,it was found months later in the seat track in my pick up truck. Was comparing my alox electrician with my victorinox tinker while standing in line at a resturant, laid, apparently, them both down on the counter to pay the bill and walked off, still upset about that.

I've told this story before...back many years when I was teenager, my room was a mess. My mother ordered me to clean it up. Being the typical reactionary teenager of my day, I did so in a huff, furiously throwing away everything that I deemed to be trash. At that time, I had a bunch of older folders and fixed blades that my father had given me. I used to keep them in a brown paper bag. Unbeknownst to me, in my stupid anger, I must have thrown away that bag of knives. I didn't realize it till later on, and by then, it was too late.

I never got over doing that, and I think that's part of the reason I collect the way I do, always on the hunt to "get those knives back".
