It followed me home (Part 2)

I bought these at a local garage sale for $.50 each. I cleaned them before I took this picture. The Kelly Hand Made is just a wall hanger. It has severe pitting but a full bit and nice logo. 4 pound cross pein hammer. I re-hung the Wards Master Quality hatchet on the original octagon handle. I believe the hang hole is original after looking at COTS Wards master quality handle with the same hole placement.

Wow. A dollar? Those are awesome even for more money than that. That fresh wedge in the hatchet with the rest of it unmolested is a pretty thing!

Wake31 - I just tried to change my permission group back to registered user but it didn't change my Private Message allowance and I don't remember now if you have 5? or so available to use as a registered user.

I might be wrong (most likely am) but if you go to your User Settings and check to make sure sure that you have "allow private messages" or "allow email" clicked - you might be able to send a private message to JB and establish a connection?

Damn, nicely played right there - wow. Funny the little Wards popping up too. I have to say, it looks to me like yours has just a touch more bit than mine and it looks almost full. What a great score man.

I would say the hole drilled in the old handle on mine really looked 100% amateur hour.

I was hoping factory on the hole but the lanyard doesn't feel good under my hand so it was probably added. Maybe they were in the same boy scout troop. It looked like it was only sharpened once then laid on a shelf for a few decades in an unheated building. A metal wedge was added at some point which stuck out far enough to get vise grips on it. I just sharpened it with a stone puck. I'm not really selling it, I want to use it for a while at least.

It looks to me the handle had two separate lathe operations and three separate paint dips at the factory.

I'm at my moms house today, and I walked up to the local goodwill that I used to rule 😁 ( used to stop by every day and was usually first to find the good stuff )
And found a 12oz Stanley ball peen for $3.19 ( every other thing was $3.19 for some reason )
Luckily I have a few tools stashed here and was able to get back to working order again.
I had to rehang it's and scrape down handle, and I also filed the thick forging flash off it's head and painted over it ( I prefer patina but this one was fairly modern, probably from the 90's )

That Kelly Hand Made looks like a user to me, the photo doesn't show too much pitting.

The other side is much worse, plus bad chipping on the edges. It could be fixed up as a user I suppose, but I have plenty of user double bits. I like the way it looks now all pitted but the logo almost pristine. I think it is an interesting one for the wall in the shop.

Man that hatchet is just awesome 👍
I can't believe you got that for $.50 and the ratty ball peen I got was $3.19 😳

I got this stuff today. The 140lb Fisher anvil was $200, everything else including the forge coal was $10 total.

Edit: Nevermind, I see the following posts.

Jblyttle. I can seem to send you a message. I would like to talk to you about the jersey patterns you may have. Could you email me at dstapinsky@gmail.com ? Thanks if this type of post is not allowed please let me know.

From what I understand, posting private email accts on this forum is not verboten but is not recommended because 'airing' one enables spammers to target that address. Best solution I've seen to this is spelling out your address out so it's understood but not immediately 'cut & pastable'. Something like: dee-ess-tee-eh-pee-eye-n-ess-kay-why-at-gee-male-dot-com As well, once you've made contact you can go back to your initial post and edit out the address.

So the bug has bitten me hard. I hope these pictures load. Here are a couple of my finds and one completed projects.

I purchased this 155lb Trenton anvil on Saturday for $350, and traded it it to a picker friend today for all of this stuff. We were both pleased with the deal. He wanted a good anvil and wanted to get rid of a bunch of stuff. I have surplus anvils and knew it would be good barter.

Hello all!! I have been looking for a axe similar to mine so i can identify it. Finally on page 113 i find one close! It is a double bit, white handle with a red foot like the one in this picture. No stamp or numbers on it. Any idea who made it?
Thanks.
