It followed me home (Part 2)

now thats a haul JB, jersey fire ax, saw-filers vice, hudson bays, handles, and it that an old michigan single with phantom bevels?

Those 4 handle with that steep shoulder drop look like they want sharp Connecticuts attached to them :)

I'd love a good picture of that Michigan with the phantom bevels if it's not too much trouble. Those handles are really something special and deserve to be saved for something really special like a black Raven 👍

Those handles are awesome, and super slim. The beveled axe is a Norlund (there are 3 Norlunds on the table). Also noteworthy is the machete/knife. It is a Collins Legitimus. I have never seen one before. The saw vise is larger than most that I have seen, and also has a ball pivot so that it can be locked into any position.

This came in the mail from Latvia. It was sold to me as a Russian made hatchet but it has such extensive pitting there are no identifying marks. No nail-pulling cut, drop/sweep at top of the eye, lugs at the rear, and very squared poll.

Before I wire wheeled the crust off of it, it weighed 1lb 11.5 oz. (.78 kg)

After the wire wheel clean it weighs 1lb 10 3/4oz (.75 kg):

It does look like some of the Russian hatchets I’ve seen on foreign knife sites such as:

Maybe someone more familiar with the pattern could help me out on identification. My inclination is that it is Russian.

is that a framing slick or a big chisel, i've seen some narrow slicks. Also, I see that brush hook in the back, true temper?

I like that first little handle, am I correct in assuming it's in the 20" range ?

About that, yes.

I guess. I'm unclean on the real difference between slick and large firming chisel. That one there weighs 2lb with a 2" edge. Brush hook yes, it's a Collins.

Bro is that a 2 lb cross peen in the bottom left corner I spy?

2lb 1.75oz, Bro! ;)

I can just see that scout head on there. I've never seen a curved replacement handle in that length before, the only axe handles I see in that length are straight handles for a house axe.

well, a slick will have a long handle, and a chisel will have a decent sized handle with a collar around the end most of the time
