Grabbed all of these for $15

A collin and co axe Hartford legitimus with the hammer and crown, never seen one quite like this with the lugs.

A norlund voyager

A new old stock coleman sportsman set, still with manuals. Was never used still has all of the mess kit and the stove is perfect.

A new old stock a line tent (haven't found much on it, but I got it for $3, it had a tag of $10 on it)

And a folding bow saw

All good stuff there. That Collins is a great axe with wonderful vintage haft. I bet it feels good in the hand.

I have been following this page for years now. I've drooled over some of the hauls you guys get. Here on the prairies of Alberta, finding one quality used head is impressive. Today, I hit the jackpot (in Canadian terms!) Walked into an antique shop in small town Alberta and found the double bit and the sledge. Walked into another and started looking. My wife walked up to me with a wooden box and said, "You may want to look at these." As you can see, for $10 (CDN) each - a fantastic price up here - I got a double bevel 1 1/4 lb hatchet stamped 1976, a Zenith 1 1/4 lb hatchet, a 2 lb hatchet stamped 1943 (army issue?), an unnamed 4lb head stamped 1957, an Ardex 4 pounder, a Swedish 3 1/2 pounder marked "Berghaus Sweden," a Walters fire axe, and the find of the day, a True Temper Black Prince 4 pounder stamped 1964. I have never seen so many vintage axe heads in one place.

Has anyone heard of a Swedish maker named Berghaus? View attachment 666118View attachment 666117

Another example (found online) of a Berghaus axe has a label that says:

The Berghaus Axe
Paul Berghaus & Company
Göteborg -- Sweden

An online search reveals that Paul Berghaus & Company was a hardware and sporting goods wholesaler. No information was found about which of the Swedish axe makers supplied their axes.

Just a nice Craftsman boys axe, 2 small PLUMB ball pien hammers, 4# Wooding-Verona sledge, Fairmount cross pien and 2 sledges 4# BOSS Japan and a no name Japan 6# that looks decent that I bought for the handle on jb's advice.
The knife is an Old Hickory re profiled and fits in the J Marttini sheath perfectly from 2 different vendors total was 6$.

I've got that same Coleman stove with the cookset / carrying case, mine is dated '74 on the bottom of it. From the searching I did I didn't think they actually came with the cookset as the manual just lists it as an optional item and never saw any examples of the set new in box. That's a great score 👍 if so inclined you could easily quadruple your money for the Coleman alone.

An oldie followed me home yesterday from Preston Court day. Original hybrid octagon handle, and rare weight stamp. I saw hundreds of axes, crosscuts, augers, and so on, but this was all I bought. $8.

Whoohoo! Does that stamp say 3 1 ? If Steve Tall's supposition about head weight traditionally being expressed in quarters (ie meaning the ubiquitous 3 2 stamp indicates 3 2/4 lb) is correct then your baby will be a 3 1/4 pounder.

Yes, 3-1. One bit was used exclusively, and has some wear, the other bit is like new. Head weighed a bit over 3 lb.
