It followed me home (Part 2)

Also picked up these three. I’m new to this so I don’t know anything about the red knight. The Norlund is not the same as pictured earlier.

This is a nice haul for the one stop. I have been slowly searching for a similar Plumb and Norlund myself...when I least expect it or when I stop looking I guess is how that will work out:)

red knight is mann, i believe, also, your plumb appears to be a plumb jetwing in the rockaway pattern

I was trying to read up on that a little last night.

Was the Red Knight label intoduced with or about the same time as the Homestead?

Picked this up resently. Is it a true Maine pattern?

I thought that was a touch mark in this pic then I looked closer and couldn’t confirm.

Brian you do seem to have found yourself a good few holes to dig up these treasures out there in OK!

I have family in Texas, Wyoming and California...none of which is lifting a finger to enable my addiction LOL!

I would also say Dayton but I also try to see CT Pattern in every axe so I may not be the best qualified to distinguish the head pattern :)

Happy hunting and hanging (you know what I mean)

The large double bit is the biggest head I've ever ran across. No markings I can distinguish, but she's huge.

Yesterday I found these guys in a small corner of a dealer in the Collins Co factory building.
They were some of the few items i came across that had not been, cleaned or restored for sale, so I couldn't pass by for the price i got on both.

Probably late 70's early 80's Mann Master Mechanic @ 34" and 4lbs. total.
The hatchet is @ 1&3/4lbs. and 13&1/2"

That's a great haul, I am digging both hammers and that claw hammer handle!
Nice Norlund find! She will clean up very well.
That double bit is a biggin'! Can't wait to see it hung.

I'm a sucker for an octagon handle. Thank you for the compliments. Yep I'm looking for the right handle to go with that big gurl.

Three boys axes at an estate sale.
Someone had a collector-eye for good value when they originally bought these. I like that straight haft and unless the poll is hardened it probably wasn't original to the head. Myself have never come across any straights at hardware stores in eastern Ontario during the past 40 years, otherwise I might have tried a few.

Wherever that DB did her business she got a hell of lot done it looks. If it could tell the story...of you got it close, local to you, that just makes it better.
I too, as with many i think, really desire and appreciate the octagon handle.
Great score again BamaDad!

You do know that the homestead line came with Collins right ?
I believe Collins introduced the line in about the 40's but could have been earlier than that.
I believe Mann started using the homestead line pretty much right away.

Hello there H n' S, Yes I did, just have not been sure of when the label red knight was introduced... before, during or after the Homestead?
I was referencing yesteryear and some of operator75 posts and threads last night before I had to call it a night.
