It followed me home (Part 2)

It is weird to me how Swedish steel ages differently than other steels. Have you noticed that on yours too? I got this one and it looked like someone was hitting the bit on the corner of an anvil over and over again!! So I cleaned up the bit a little and that’s as far as I have gotten on it.

Warning- not axe related but I had to share.

300 pounds and in great shape. $400, I could not let it pass.

Great find on the anvil. We went to a small indoor flea market yesterday and I was surprised to see an anvil sitting on the floor. My surprise quickly turned to disappointment when I recognized the seller. I've tried talking to the guy several times and he was always too high and always an a$$hole. I did bring home a Woodings-Verona, marked US90 in good shape with original handle.

LOL I know the type. They sell at flea markets for a living but if you even think about negotiating price they act as if you have insulted their lineage.

Delt with a guy just like this once who wanted 30$ for a Plumb saddle hatchet.
Probably well worth it, but I felt like it was a bit high.

It's not the price that is the problem, it's the fact that they treat you like an a-hole if you even mention talking about the price. Never mind the fact that the next 5 guys selling at the flea are 1/4 this guy's price or that you can buy cleaned up much nicer examples for the same price online. They don't care. They want top dollar for zero effort and think the world is against them when people won't pay their prices.

Spot on and well said!

Definitely.

Not to mention that they're used to selling their stuff to those who don't know, who they can convince to pay their asking prices.
They've been pedaling for a long time, and I think they can quickly recognize someone who may know a thing or two.

Yes!

Just to add...when I come across that guy or gal with Just that personality and customer service attitude. I simply say thank you but no, and I usually wish them best of luck as they are already looking thru and past me to their prey.

Yep, wish them luck because they're going to need it.

With such an attitude and high prices I always wonder if they ever sell anything.
Don't go to enough flea markets but I'll bet most of their stuff would be on the table the next week.

I can see you guys know the type. It's not just their ridiculous prices, it's their attitude. Most of the people I meet at flea markets are good people with a good sense of humor. I have talked with several who were more interested in good conversatin than selling anything.

Thank you fishiker for putting it into perspective.
It only always takes a few bad apples...but you are right for my overall experiences as well. Most of the people; wheeler dealers, venders, yard sale families, they want to move their goods, learn more if they can and usually always willing or at least entertain to share a story about a tool, event or place we share an experience with.
Right on.

As for the bad apples, they will always be there and I will always do my best to kill them with kindness.
