It followed me home (Part 2)

I think I'm on my second pot

I know :D....I slept in this morning, not like me at all to sleep past 6. But thankfully it happens from time to time to remind me I do need to sleep more.

I think I need to go gather the house axes and take a family picture to post up...my curiosity to what I have is overwhelming...but not till after I start brewing my 2nd pot lol!

That's a real beauty Fmont Fmont

I have a Winchester and a Flint Edge house axe...possibly a 3rd but I am not sure only one cup of coffee so far ;)

I was trying to link to this page in my above post regarding the Brecks Garden stores and axes.

Lesson learned...dont try posting links till a minimum of 2 cups coffee:D
You actually need coffee to function in the morning ?
I got up at 2:00 am for work and I don't drink coffee, for me it's chocolate milk and a king-sized payday bar.
Gotta have the peanuts and caramel.
Kind of funny that I'm up that early for work but usually wake up no earlier that 11:30 am on my days off.
I guess I'm young enough that my internal clock isn't ready to fully accept the idea of getting up early :D

I need coffee like I need another axe lol!
I have grown accustomed to my caffeine jumpstart.
Having young children has made me increasingly dependent on the jumpstart and reason to hide in the kitchen for sanity, every now and then.

I walk a fine line between caffeine desire and addiction :D

Chocolate milk and a candybar... at 46, I dont do that type of breakfast anymore lol!

I average probably 5/6 hours sleep a night give or take

If my old friend OCD kicks in after 8 or 9p...I'm in for a ride

Pick Mattocks- I have one that was almost unused when I got it. It is marked "HUBBARD" in raised letters. The raised letters will wear away a lot faster then the stamped marking. I think I remember seeing them made by Klein-Logan in Pittsburgh Pa. and Warren Tool Corp, in Hiram, Ohio. Very useful little tool.

Well I went back to the yard sale today.
The axe on the wood pile turns out to actually be his user, and the DB head he said he didn't want to sell so I didn't push it.

But I said okay and thanks and as I was walking away he must have changed his mind because he asked me what I'd offer him. I said $10, he expected $5 and that's what I gave.

I guess I really didn't get a good enough look at it yesterday, because the second i gave him the $5 and he handed it to me I could see the stamp.

It's a 4Lb TT KELLY WORKS Hand made
I don't really know where the Handmade line falls within the TT KELLY WORKS lineup as far as age and quality level but I'm sure it's a good axe.
Not sure if it would be a California / peeling or an swamping pattern either.
Some patterns are unmistakable and some take some real looking.
I also got some other stuff at about a dollar for the handful.

An Omega #14495 clicker, a little Stanley 5' tape a German made compass I believe they're called, a cheap keychain tape I mostly wanted for the keychain, and a MAC MB2 pocket inspection mirror.
Not positive but I Suspect UDC for the OEM on it.

That's a nice group Miller. What's the one on the bottom with the straight haft? Love me some house axes.

That one is a beauty oak handle.
It was a badly worn and chipped connie, with all that's recognizable is Warranted Cast.
I have not used it yet...I meant to bring with us camping but forgot when the Plumb Cruiser distracted me...

I'm certainly happy, now I've just gotta get in contact with JB and see what he's got for handles he's willing to part with.
An axe like this deserves something better than you can buy at a hardware store today.
Now In all honesty I simply like axes and don't really have a ton of use for them let alone a 4lb'er so it'll probably just live on the wall in my garage / shop and get admired but that's better than rusting away.

Never say never though because things can change and I may one day actually need it :)

I hope he has something to fit your needs.

I say hey...if it's going to look good on someone else's wall, it may as well look good on mine.

Some I use, some I use more frequently, some barely get a swing and others are on the wall.

My axe use is heavily seasonal, firewood use primarily.

It was my understanding that Hubbard was a manufacturer. They used an 'H' in a shield as their logo. They made tools specifically for industry. To my knowledge they did not make consumer tools. The few pieces I've found are very high quality.
