It followed me home (Part 2)

$18.00 for all three. A made in the USA Stanley hand plane, Walters Montreal pattern hatchet, and TT flint edge.

That TT Connie is fantastic...I would have paid $18 just for that alone since I've never even seen a CT pattern in my searches. Nice finds.

It's my first flint edge, I had a TT Worlds Finest connie that I sold a bit back but this one is a keeper for sure.

I passed one up for $10 at a swap meet not long ago. I think they're goofy. But the way people like them I guess I should grab them when I see them.
Goofy....Bahaha. It's a nestalgia thing for me S_p, my first time splitting wood was with one so.....

If I ever see a minty steel handled hatchet with a black rubber grip I'll prob buy it too. I spent hours hacking at my grandmothers trees with one when I was a kid

Single jack hammer was on a very weathered newer handle with no wedge.

I quickly removed the handle and cleaned it up which revealed the stamps.

Klein Logan single jack for a buck. I think I will put a new handle on it and quadruple the value. :D

CedarEater, that is a neat find - thanks for sharing. Even though this is a blade forum I enjoy seeing the stuff that follows members home.

Was Klein Logan considered a standard of quality tool up there with other makers previous to and at that time? When I hear the name I think of froes for some reason.

A picture of it returned to action would be great.

Well, my first Klein-Logan tool that I recently found happaned to be a froe. They made a variety of tools but I think the most commonly seen these days by them may very well be the froe.

I will be hanging it on a new handle shortly as I purchased it intending to put it back in service and suspecting that there was a makers mark in there somewhere. I had no idea there were two until I cleaned it up.

I will be sure to post a pic of it for you in the "rehang" thread.

Yes sir they will be looking good when I'm done. Got a pair of handles already. One octagon and one oval. I just have to decide which one goes on the octagon.

I was leaning towards the top on octagon as it is the best of the pair. Done. Thanks Darth and JB.

My newest...Gransfors Hand Axe (Kubben). This will be in the vehicle and will be used as a wood carver. It's pretty darn awesome.

Here are two Jersey patterns that made their way home with me. Unsure of the maker but I have an idea.
One is painted primer gray the other has been wire-wheeled. The cleaned one is marked with a “Star 49”.

The primer gray one has pitting and appears unmarked but there are some definite similarities.

This is just for conversation, of course. The tool marks on the underside of the polls look pretty similar and the eyes/thickness are as well:

The ridges are set the same. Two tighter starboard, two wider on port. I’m a boater but someone here referred the sides of an axe head in nautical terms in a previous post about Plumb rafting pattern– seemed to make sense.

With the polls lined up (cleaned one was mashed a touch) they seem like they were treated same/similar in production as far as form and function? The bits seem to match up with toe and heel wear.

True Temper, Wood Slasher, ambiguous hardware chain production by a decent maker?

We all like tools.

Seems to me attributing 'port' and 'starboard' into axe descriptions is similarly accurate to using 'right' or 'left' rather than 'driver's side' or 'passenger side', especially with the Japs and Brits having steering wheels on the opposite side of their vehicles from everybody else.

I had an unmarked double bit with the same ridge configuration (two narrower on one side versus the other). I have always assumed it was some sort of True Temper or Woodslasher.
