You said you had been busted up some here and there. Man I hope your's isn't the arthritis like what has happened to me. Tyenol will help lots. Asprins might but are very hard on the stomach. Moving around is a good thing, I've been told many times by the Dr.s.. Frank

Frank, it is. I have arthritis pretty bad too. I'm 40 which isn't young but it also isn't THAT old. Too young to feel the way I do. The right side of my body feels like it's a 100 years old while my left side feels just fine. Between skateboarding and motocross I busted up a lot of parts. Who knew we would someday pay for those choices? :D

Want to hear another stupid story? A couple years ago at my sons birthday party we went to one of those big warehouses full of those inflatable jumpy toys. They had this awesome obstacle course that I kept schooling the kids on. Very last kid I had to beat and SNAP! I somehow caught the right leg and you could literally hear "Pop, pop, pop". Torn ligaments and tendons in the right ankle and a snapped fibula and talus bones. Another surgery and more plates.

My son busted his right leg when he was 4. My wife just did the face palm, like great, here we go.

I already mentioned it once, but it's funny how much good information I got out of a thread that I intended for no other reason than to poke some fun.

Nah, I was more the faded denim with the Metallica patch on the back type :D I couldn't hang with spandex......looks good on that guy though:p

Thanks, Horse

My calves are for sure feeling better. Now it's by gut that hurts from picturing Jonny back in the day.

For you old arthritic old farts who want some relief for your arthritis take some "Turmeric" (Spice). It is a great anti inflammatory and has a long track record at helping with the pain.

As someone who has worked in factories (standing in the same spot for hours) Your's is a common malady. I know it well. Your legs and feet will be less sore if you were walking around all day. You don't think your calf muscles are doing anything because you are standing there stationary. But your calf muscles are making constant minute adjustments to maintain your balance. same with the muscles in your feet.

Good shoes!! I had a friend that ground 40 years on his feet. He got older and had to learn to grind sitting. He had a lot of problems with this. Know i grind both sitting and standing in case i make it to a old age.

LOL, Michael.....just caught this post. We can compare motocross plate scars next month over a cold beer! Mine's made out of titanium:D

My first advice is ditch the heels on your boots and get some stretching done. If your calves are that sore then there is probably some shortening and wearing heels (even in boots) just keeps them shorter, masking the problem while seeming to make it better. Look up calf stretches online- my favorite is stand with your toes just on a stair, opposite leg behind you dangling into nothing. With balance (rail) slowly let gravity take your heel below the level of the stair you are standing on. Hold for ~ 10 seconds. Repeat with a slightly bent knee- very important to do calf stretches with straight leg (gastrocnemius) and bent leg (soleus). Do not do calf raises with this, the idea is to stretch, not strengthen.

I've never been a person who believes we need excessive support for our feet unless we have arch or other issues. I've worked in boots because of regulations, but am always happier with less on my feet. Although I do agree with soft pads, they lessen the stress of the minute changes of posture on the balls of your feet. I would suggest proper orthotics rather than Dr. Scholl's, (even though it is my mothers maiden name) as a full assessment will help identify the problem then treat it, without knowing what you are doing wrong you may just repeat the same postural errors that may be causing the issues. With how beat up you claim to be, the issue could be away from your feet/calves and could be referring from hips or elsewhere. Without seeing you in person though it is just a guess/suggestion for you to look into- good luck!!
