It`s That Time Again!

So, how thick is the XD XT? Looking good, between this and the kukri, my wait time is becoming increasingly uncomfortable to bear.
 
This is looking really nice. Can't wait to see it when it's finished! :) :thumbup:
 
The handle is 5.5 inches, the blade is 7.5 - I think that is correct.

I feel the heat being applied....Hope you did this early in the day, John.

You would have to figure that it would get hot on the day you were doing this thick old boy.

Started heat treating at 3am. Since then I have done the following:

Rough ground out 6 blanks for future orders (3 for next week, 3 for the following week). Did these while waiting for the tempering cycles to finish.
After that I cleaned this one and 2 others up, ready for handles.
Cut out handles for this bad boy
Now have the double liners gluing onto the handles.
Went to Lowes to pick up some stuff I need.
 
Sweet - I am excited to see it and more wip pictures.

Getting antsy now you know..... ;^)

The grind looks perfect!

The 1 on there looks pretty swell too. ;^)

I wonder why those holes in the scales are so large...... :confused: :D

You got more accomplished this morning before I even went to bed lol. damn sir! that blade looks great. I can't wait to see it all finished up! and that grind does look damn clean!
 
Are those .45 caliber holes?
 
I don't think you want to get too "cuddley" with the XT - he is cut from the same "cloth" as the DBH!

I just realized what is cool about this photo - the XD XT stretches all the way across the venerable stump at the JK Compound, and then some!
