Italian Khukri- Made in Texas!

Your Dogo is so cool - I love bully dogs...
He He! Thanks Bob. He sits and waits for his piece of pizza crust. My wife hand feeds him. Spoiled arse rotten pink dog:p I have to put my Khuks up every night especially the antler ones. Im so afraid of forgetting one on the table or something and finding the blade only laying on the floor in the morning. Im sure he would love to tear into one of them sheaths as well.

Since its so slow around here I figured id post a few updates. I cut the grooves around the handle and did a bit of final shaping. Ha! Funny that JW whupps out a whole Khuk in the time it take me to update my progress but ere it is. One good thing about this is I feel convinced I can now replace a handle on a khuk if needed. Might not be perfect but wtHeck.

Grooves are cut and everything is sanded to 220 grit. Wood aint poppin yet but hopefully it will.

I whacked off the tang and peened it. I realized I should have peened it before I trimmed off the bulk meat from the handle. That way it would be less likely to chip and fracture. I clamped it at the blade with a spacer in between and went to town on it anyway and all went well so good deal! Looks kinda raw but I like it alot! OK thru the grits!

You need to pack that bad boy in a little shoulder holster sometime when you visit a pizza joint.

They'll be boo coo impressed. So am I.

Hey, let's get this bad boy finished. We're all dying to see the finished product!! 'Course, we're all invited down Texas way for the unveiling party with Free Beer & Pizza, eh?

You done good dog
Thank you sir! Im watching you hammer out some cool choppers and thats what I want to get to. Enjoying your steel bending posts:cool:

It won't be this year, all of our vacations are spoken for this year. But, I'll try to work it in somehow in the next annual vacation request period, between April 2016 - March 2017....:grumpy:

Somebody say free beer and pizza?

IM still workin on it! I did have to adjust the beer to grit ratio though. Need more grits! Down to 800 and aint had enough beers yet. Almost done tho! This Zebra wood dont act like most woods. Once you get to 400 grit or so it starts acting like steel. Some dense stuff. I had this wood for 30 years myself and don't know how old it was when I got it so it should be pretty stabilized?

Cul: 2017:eek:! Ill let you know when im in the Smokies next and we can meet in the middle maybe;)

This is probably one of my favorite parts of woodworking. You cant tell what is underneath all them scratches till you oil it up. I do believe this wood is popping! Got some mineral oil on it and wow! I couldnt capture the light play on that wood but if your familiar with Zebrawood it has great chatoyance like highly figured maple but in larger bands. Great looking stuff in person. Kinda like cutting a tigers-eye cabochon of wood.

That's an incredibly nice piece of Zebrawood. It varies so much from plain and not exciting to, well like the piece you got.

Very nice.

You just about got that puppy wrapped. A bit of brass polishing left or you done that.
