I am on vacation in Italy, and would like an Italian knife. It would be ok if I ordered it off the internet. I am having trouble finding italian knives that aren't switchblades. Can anyone help?

Specs I would like
3-3.5 inch blade length
nice steel
folder
not a switchblade
made in italy
$100 or less

Thanks!

Hey col902 check out Lion Steel knives. Made in Maniago, Italy. They have some awesome designed folders (SR-1 and 8700 are two models I plan on getting soon). Only company I know of off the top of my head.

Good Luck!

Maniago is the knife making center of Italy and most of the companies are there .Check out FOX which makes high quality knives . They are available here and they also make knives for others .I have a FOX made TOPS knife that is excellent.

Yes, there are many more factories u can check out here...all of these are based in Maniago:
- Lionsteel (it's not just the SR-1)
- Viper
- Fox (same brand sold in the US but with many different models sold here)
- Maserin
- Fantoni
- Frank Beltrame
If u look into traditional blades, I suggest a Sardinian knife (a "Pattada" or eventually a "Arburesa" if u like wider blades), but the availability depends alot on which part of Italy u are staying in...

I am staying in the tuscany area. I am about 30 min. away from Sienna and 1 hour away from Florence if that helps.

This is the SIGTAC Rangemaster made by Fox Knives of Italy and marketed by SIGARMS. It is very well built. I know it's only one knife but based on this knife I'd recommend Fox Knives of Italy.

LionSteel made these knives for Fox, and Fox sold them to SigTac.

I assume it won't be hard to find a good knife store in Florence actually.
It does depend alot in what u are searching for...Italian factories are (in general) pretty good at making knives in some kind of traditional style, plain or revisited, and with much care of the details. U will probably find them more expensive if compared to similar american products but if u are looking for style in a knife, and not just quality or function, u might find very interesting things here.
If u can give us some idea on which kind of knife u are looking for, it would be easier to help u.

Unfortunentely you won't find it for under 100$!
Check out Maserin.
They have some very nice ones as well;)

Either way it's a solid, well made, knife ready for rugged use.

By-the-way, you're the only one I've ever heard say that the knife was made by Lion Steel for Fox. Got a a source for that? Not my intention to nit-pick you but just interested in the history of these knives as I have a couple-three of them.

Italian knives are often very good with an elegant design as well.
In my list of review videos on youtube, I recommend to check out clips 2,13,16,19,21,29,46,55,63,88.
(with links to an italian webshop, as you asked) For universal EDC, I do recommend the Lion Steel Opera and the Lion Steel Daghetta

For a more traditional folder, check out the 2 knives in video 46, they are amongst the most attractive in my collection.
For food, the supremely elegant Maserin Gourmet (in clip 2) is even more stylish than a laguiole.
