Italian Knives?

How do you think it compares to your lionsteel opera?

Opera and Gent are two knives completely different. Opera is a lock-back knife and Gent has a Buttom&liner lock mechanism.
Opera's blade is made of 440C, Gent's blade N690.
Gent is a very nice gentleman knife, the only doub that I have is the power of locking system.

Personaly from Viper I like Timeless (liner-lock) and Quality (lock-back).

Either way it's a solid, well made, knife ready for rugged use.
By-the-way, you're the only one I've ever heard say that the knife was made by Lion Steel for Fox. Got a a source for that? Not my intention to nit-pick you but just interested in the history of these knives as I have a couple-three of them.

Yes I have a source... I am the owner of LionSteel :-))
In that time we have produced three knives for that business, one under the name SigTac, second under the name SigSauer and the last under the name SigArm. All of them were made for Fox company.

This is awesome to hear. I have a friend that doesn't know much about knives, but he is a gun nut. I told him a long time ago as a general rule of thumb, not to buy a knife from a gun company. He was interested in some of the Sig knives, and now I have a few that I can recommend to him with confidence:)

The Combative Edge knives are made in Italy. I'm not sure which company makes them but they are a fine quality knife.

Thanks for the info. Always good to learn new knife facts.

LionSteel and Fox have a strong relationship, I am personaly a good friend of the owner of Fox.
We have made several collaboration togheter, one of them is the knife VOLPE made for Spyderco.

As far as I know, the Combative Edge is made by Fox Knives. U should check their Italian website and see what u can find.
Or eventually, find some good knife store (if there is any) in Florence and maybe take a look at blades made by Italian brands, to see the F&F and what vibe they give u.

Today I picked up the Lion Steel Opera in olive wood from the Coltelleria Dolcimascolo in Rome. I like it a lot, and will upload some pictures tomorrow. The store had a great selection, so for anyone looking for a knife shop in Rome, I would recommend this one.

The guy at the shop said not to keep it in the leather pouch for to long. How long can I keep it in there for? Why is it bad to keep it in there for long periods of time?

We have made the leather pouch to keep the knife on it, I do not know the reason that he said so.

Congratulations with your olive Opera. It is fantastic for general non-tactical edc. Initially has a slight preference for my Viper Gent with its lovely thin build, thse days i prefer the Opera as it's more universal because sturdier, and still very elegant.
I am seriously considering to reduce my 150+ knife collection to around 30, and the Opera will stay.
