Italy Wins!!!!!!

I wonder if he is one of the players who are going to be barred for life when the current drug abuse investigation runs its course, and since he knew that was the last time he would ever be in a soccer game anyway, seized the opportunity to accomplish his lifelong desire to headbutt somebody.

"There are insults one must answer by the knife." Dante.
Soccer bores me and i don't care about a second star on the national team shirt. This headbutt is the best moment of the worldcup.

I can't understand what's all the fuss about that particular incident. Such and even worse things happen all the time in football. Years ago I watched an european championship qualification football match in Croatia where one of the serbian football players squeezed (quite hard) the balls of a croatian football player who made such a painful grimase I will never forget hehe.

Anyway I'm happy that the french foreign legion did not win the championship and it had nothing to do with Zidane as some half-wits wrote. Italians are the best football team and they deserve the title...the best match of the championship was that between Italia and Germany...if you could see the expression of shock and disbelief on german mugs after they received two goals at the very end of the match hehe...

The members of what you call "the french foreign legion" are french, not strangers, definately. Those who don't agree with that, here in France as in Europe, are the simplemind members of populist organisations.

I'm sure there are a lot more of people who agree with what I said and those who deny this (you for example) and claim otherwise (that those are not strangers despite the fact those "french" players are predominantly foreign borne) are very simple minded members of human population indeed.

ps.:edited for spelling

Wrong. They predominantly are born in France and anyway, once they have got the french nationality according to the laws and rules of this country they are french and nothing else. Most of the black members of this team are born or have their origins in the West India islands which are french.
You have to understand this: somes french people are black, somes black people are french.

Urs Linsi (FIFA) said:
The new provision in par. 4 stipulates that if any player, official or spectator behaving in a discriminatory or contemptuous manner can be attributed to a certain team, three points will automatically be deducted from that team for the first offence. In the case of a second offence, six points will be deducted, and after a further offence, the team will be relegated. In the case of matches played without points being awarded, the team in question will be disqualified.

[my emphasis]

So if there's proof of Materazzi making racists comments before the headbutt occured, Italy will be disqualified, losing the title.

FIFA is currently looking into this, although as of yet, no official investigation has been started.

Dude, the Italians cry when they win. What will they do if they get disqualified?

I say, as punishment, Materrazzi has to move out of his parents' house (at 33 - instead of the usual 35). That'll teach him to insult Zidane's mamma.:D

No,majority of them were definetely not born in France but in Africa or elsewhere (like Trezegue or whatever is his surname spelled)...they were imported to france. And even if they were born in France they are not really french (like Zidane for example)...and the past events (burning cars, riots in muslim parts of france) etc have proven that. There were only two or three active (out of ten) ethnic french players, one was the goalkeeper (Barthez) and the other two were either Ribery and/or Sagnol. West India or whatever is definetely not France.

They will certainly not get disqualified...and only a totaly envious retarded farts would want them get disqualified .... At the moment they are the best team and they have proven it.

Blahahahaha what a perfect ending that would be...

Yeah right, just like they totally dominated France in the final. :D

Let's recall Italy's impressive way to the title:

Preliminary round

They started off by beating Ghana (first appearance ever at a World Cup tournament for them). Italy was the slightly better team.

Second match: lucky 1:1 against the US. The Americans were better but couldn't get their shots in.

In their third appearance, they beat the Czech who never had a chance. Convincing game.

Second round

Grosso single-handedly cheated Australia out of an overtime (and probably a victory as de Rossi had been sent off before) by diving for a penalty literally seconds before the end of the game.

Quarter-final

Italy won against an outclassed Ukrainian team, who beat Switzerland in the penalties in the second round in the most boring match in younger World Cup history. This year's World Cup was the first Ukraine qualified for.

Semi-final

After Italian TV got Germany's Torsten Frings out of the way, the Italian team managed to advance by scoring two minutes before overtime ran out. Half of the Italian players were whining for free kicks throughout the game.

Final

France was the better team by such a wide margin that they should've won 3:1. Italy was totally outclassed even after Zidane was sent off. Italy won the penalty shootout.

Good job!

Let me guess, you're one of those people who are into soccer only when it's World Cup time and then you act like you're some big expert when in reality you have no clue at all?

Nope, I have followed Italian football over several years and it has gotten better with every championship. Naturally no team can play 100% every match but if you look whole results Italians were the best performers overall. I will not go into commenting your home-made remarks as they are ridiculous...I watched the italian matches from the first one and they won with ease over Ghana whose players had not clue against Italians. The only dubious match was that against Australia but such things unfortunately happen in football...I bet you wouldn't have any objections at all if germany was in place of italia in that particular match ....btw so now it's italian TV's fault that the germans lost against italians ha ha...what a sore losers...spare me you with your "expertise" and save it for your kids or parents maybe.

This is so far from the truth that it's just laughable, plain and simple. Just ask a few people from all over the world which team performed best.

If by "Italian football" you mean Serie A, you should add "when they're not busy bribing the refs". ;)

The penalty wasn't "dubious" - it was an outright joke.

German players (like most others in the world) rarely dive like girls, so that probably wouldn't have happened. It didn't happen in the Poland game either, when the German team scored fair and square very late in the game. Oh, and Germany was actually the better team...

Most Italian players are first rate crybabies and I stand by my statement above: you have no clue whatsoever about soccer.

Well, if you ask people where where I live, most will probably admit it was the italian. At least I have got such impression as majority people at "pubs" where you could watch the matches cheered for italian team. naturally if you are in denial because you are being subjective because of personall issues that's another matter..

No, I meant italian football as played on european and world championships.

Personally, for me the german players are annoying to watch, actually the whole german game is annoying because it lacks (except Miroslav Klose, who is a Polish anyway) creativity and temperament, it's simpy too mechanical....the germans always tipycaly scored at the very end of the match as the opposing team dropped focus thinking it was the end ot the match however this time it was the other way around :)...whoever watched the match Germany vs.Italy could saw that the Italians were better team afterall; they were dominating over germans in extended match time and they proved this by scoring two goals and beating germans on their own home ground which is always difficult to do for guest team. to claim that germany was better team is a poor comfortn and to others is simply ridiculous statement.

So after being the runner-up in 1994, losing in the quarterfinals in 1998 and in the second round in 2002 is what you consider getting "better with every championship"? Wow...seriously, get a clue.
And what about their appearance at EURO '04 where they were kicked out in the very first round? Yes, the tournament was over for the German team after the preliminary round as well, but unlike you, I'm not talking about them getting "better with every championship"...

But hey, whatever man, whatever...

Where do you live, if I may ask? Or does that compromise OPSEC?
The fact that you call the country "Italia", not "Italy", suggests that you might be a tad bit biased, although you'd never admit that of course...

As I said, you're clueless about soccer. What you describe is the way we've played for decades (with the exception of 1990, when we won the cup in Italy) and then World Cup 2006 came and Klinsmann totally changed that.

If you don't believe me, go to Google News and search for "klinsmann revolution" (sans "s). You'll find loads of newspaper articles from all over the world (UK, Australia, US). Search in other languages, and I'm sure you'll find more. But hey, who are countless sports journalists to tell you how the German team played, you're the real expert, after all...
By the way, Germany scored more goals than Italy did.
Besides, it's not like Italy ever played attractively...one word: catenaccio. Look it up somewhere.

But before you do, you might want to check this British (not German) site out and sort the teams by "dives" or "fake injuries"...

So what if he was born in Poland? Unlike Italy's Argentinian midfielder Camoranesi, he sings the anthem.

What's with the derogatory attitude towards teams with players who weren't born in the country they play for? First you mouth off about the entire French team and now you're talking about Klose. Along with your telltale nickname...

So Poland was the better team in the Poland vs Germany match in the first round?
