Itch for a Congress or Toothpick or...

Neeman: Thanks for info.
Stephen: Yeah, bone is good. I like Yellow Rose series / Banana Peel bone ( I like yellow) or Tractor Green series ( Green is my favorite color) but some nice orange, teal, blue or red is always welcome.

First time I have such big number of colors to choice :D

i just received the Tidioute Congress in black micarta today and i am very pleased. i like the idea of redundant blades (particularly the ones on this model) and just plain love the look of this knife. it arrived with disappointing sharpness but i got a little better edge on there and will work with it more this evening. the blades come out with a pleasing amount of resistance and the half stops are nice and sturdy. really a very good feel to it. the big surprise to me, however, was the size. a few comments here led me to believe it would be a pocket beast but it is almost exactly the size of a Vic Soldier. very cool!

here are the pics:

btw, that bit that looks like a small chip in one of the pins is exactly that. i got it as a pocket carry knife so i was happy to buy from the "GEC EDC" section. very pleased with this one. if you've got an itch for one, i say go for it, thejamppa :thumbup:

nice looking congress and exactly the kind of pics needed to flatten my wallet.

thanks jazub

Thanks Jazup. When you mentioned EDC section I know exactly where you bought it. I have been eyeing that congress few weeks ago... and the other. Thanks for making comparision with the Victorinox that helps me greatly.

I have a GEC 4" toothpick (also in their purple bone), and it sees a LOT of pocket time. Great fit & finish, and I also got mine from the EDC section... ;)
It's a perfect size, nice and slim, the bone is gorgeous, and I like how long the tail bolster is (some toothpicks have one that's too small, IMO, but this one is properly proportioned).

How's the Saber Ground GEC toothpick vs Flatground? The bloodred bone looks grogeous and saber ground blade really nice... Has the saberground blade stronger tip?

Probably a stronger tip, since it's thicker most of the way down. Mine's flat-ground, which I prefer for the "better" slicing ability (think apple slices, instead of cracked-off apple pieces...), but on a blade this small I don't think it matters so much.
Also, I have not noticed that mine feels "weak" at all due to its flat grind; it's plenty strong enough. Most pocket knives are flat ground, and they work just fine without breaking, as long as you don't abuse them.

Alright, I bought Bloodred bone Toothpick with saberground, non-serialized. Let's see what that does on my itch when I get it in 2 or so weeks.

jamppa, you'll love it.
It's a stunning knife, feels great in the hand, and actually better in the pocket than you might think for a 4" knife.
