Assuming you're old enough to have been carrying stuff of interest in your pockets so it's the late 70s dump your pockets.

This is representative of what I had back then, a lighter, harp and a pocket knife, everything a teenager needed.

I don't have a pic but I imagine it would have consisted of a matchbox car, some G.I.Joe accessories and/or some random Micronauts pieces. If I was lucky, some loose change. :p I'd have been 9.

I did have a M. Hohner harp but that was in the late 80's. Nice stuff you got there Ted and a cool idea for a thread.

The contents of my diaper would be all I could show you if someone had taken some pictures. I was born in 1977, too late to truly enjoy the disco era :D

I don't have a picture (yet) but it would have been a lighter, keys to a 65 Mustang and a Buck 112.

Let's see.... a roach clip, a pack of smokes, and a Zippo, and an empty wallet. I was 24 years old.

1978..... probably a slip joint knife, pen and mechanical pencil, money, and keys. Life was simpler then.

I certainly was not cruising the knife retailers for some new knife.

1978? I probably literally had nothing in my pockets. I was only 12 so no car keys. Never locked the house so no house keys. No money so no wallet. I don't remember having a pocket knife back then. No such thing as a cell phone.

Maybe a pack of gum.

I refuse to post as it would be incriminating. People might notice that my current pocket dumps contain the same condom.

One of these (until the school principal confiscated it):

I'd have been a few years younger than you. I'd have had a Hot Wheels car, possibly a handful of Lego pieces/spacemen figures, a CapriSun juice pouch, and some Skittles. ;)

You guys are makin' me feel old, 78, I was workin' as a subcontractor doin' plumbing work, drivin' a 62 Willys Jeep with a Buick Turbo V6 Desert Dogs on the wheels and too much time on my hands. That jeep lasted all of 6 months before I drove it off a 30 foot cliff and totaled it. Luckily I had a 69 Norton Commando that got me around and a girlfriend with a Custom Dodge Van. 78 was a good year, outta HS, economy was good, I was makin' $15/hr back then. I usually always had enough money in my pocket to do something stupid with. ;)

Probably looked something like this. I didn't carry them ALOT but I still got a couple hohner harps too. Dang T, you was rolling back in the day. :D Cool thread.

Cool idea for a thread. Wish I had pics.

Mine would have been very similar (I was a kid as well).

My pockets would have been filled with my prize possessions- A Hotwheels version of Speed Racers Mach5, a toy motorcycle I found with the hand grips/controls broke off, some cheap plastic pocket flaslightt, and a Schrade switchblade my uncle gave me (single blade, jigged black plastic handles, lanyard ring).

And whatever change I might have found from checking "change return" slots on any coin operated machines I crossed paths with. My family really got a kick out of how I would never pass a machine without checking the coin slots. And I was often rewarded for my efforts. There's nothing like being a little kid and finding two quarters in a newspaper vending machine, back when that was a lot of money for a little kid.

As far as the switchblade, I remember when my uncle gave it to me he said "Don't tell your mom where you got it from, she'll kill me. If you get caught with it, just say you found it in the street".

I never got caught with it, I was good at keeping things secret (mom was a tough disciplinarian). Closest I came was leaving it in the bathroom once after taking it out of my pocket and putting it on the sink while taking a crap. Fortunately dad found it, and gave it back to me.

Many years later, after the spring broke I sold it to someone who still thought it was cool.

And at some point I also had a Micronaut. I had "The Time Traveler". I thought he was the coolest.

Just got this one, but in 78 I would have had one of these. My original got lost during a move 9 years ago, but there is still hope. I still have a few boxes that I haven't gone through yet.
