It seems that it has been a long time since I did a giveaway, and, since I have been the winner of not one but two recent giveaways, I will send two knives on to new homes where I hope they will be appreciated.
First, the prizes:
A GEC 73 with steel liners/bolster and cocobolo scales. This is unused and unsharpened, I have sat on it long enough. For those who fear the nailbreaker springs of the 73 pattern, this is for you. Unlike every other 73 I have had, this has springs that are just right - not nailbreakers, but not weak, either.
Second, a 4-dot 1976 Case 2231 1/2 SAB that is still in decent shape. Snap is strong, just right if you ask me. Blades have seen some use but still have a lot of life left in them.
Now, for the rules. First, I can only send to US addresses. My local post office has determined that nothing sharp can be shipped to international destinations. No amount of arguing on my part can convince them of their errors. If you are outside the US and have a US address that I can use, you can enter.
Second, you have to have at least 20 posts in the traditional forum before today, and plan to put these in your carry rotation and not just flip them for money (a giveway if you decide that you don't like it is OK).
Finally, the contest itself. I am passionate about the Sierra Nevada. I have scaled many peaks in the Sierra, with the elevations of those peaks ranging from 8842' to 14,508'. To win this contest you need to have the closest guess for the elevations of my two favorite summits that I have done. The winner for my favorite summit gets first choice. Any ties go to the first poster. Only one elevation guess per person. I will not post pictures of these two summits until the end of the contest, but if you are creative you might be able to figure it out based on the pictures from those summits. I really like these two summits because they are very narrow and pointed at the top, giving a feeling of being on top of the world.
The view from my favorite summit, which is in Sequoia National Park:
The view from my second-favorite summit, which is in Kings Canyon National Park:
I will let this run until 9PM Pacific Time, Sunday February 25. And if you have pictures of your favorite wilderness spot, feel free to show it.
