You're getting closer, but still no cigar. Here's an (admittedly lousy) photo of a great big honkin' chunk of buckeye that I happen to have laying around that actually shows the colors you get pretty accurately.

The buckeye, being a temperate-climate wood, has been stabilized. The amboyna is tropical; no need to.

If it's this Dave you're referring to, you are so right! I almost shorted out my keyboard from drooling all over it. That's a beautiful piece of wood.:thumbup:

I know I'm going to love the buckeye too. I'm on pins and needles waiting for it.
