It has cut through countless plastic straps and twine, Help cut up 20 or so boxes and the edge is still remarkable. Action was awsome to begin with but its gotten even nicer. I have no complaints as of yet. Think shes gonna be around for awhile ☺

They really are fantastic knives aren't they? I'm loving mine more and more as I continue to break it in, it's loosening up bit by bit and turning into a real joy to flip out and use. I looked at a lot of knives in a very short time but this one, for me at least, stood above the rest in fit, finish, and overall construction.

Plus, it's just such a gorgeous-to-look-at-knife too. :D

What version did you get?

I got a sculpted handle, sculpted backspacer, PVD coated, gold hardware version from BladeHQ. I'd been emailing with Eugene about a more custom build but the one in stock at Blade HQ ticked enough of my boxes to jump on board. I have a feeling this won't be my last Olamic...

What blade steel? M390? I wonder if he does his own heat treat or sends them out, and it sent out, who does it?

Also curious what hardness he is shooting for and if it's more for corrosion resistance or edge retention?

Eugene is on the forums here so hopefully he'll pop in to answer your questions, but mine is M390 steel and quite sharp right out the box. :D

As for pictures, I'd planned on taking some today but of course it's stormy and rainy with no natural light so I'm going to try again tomorrow. On the Olamic vs ZT0801 thread I have pictures of mine so if you want to search for that thread you can see mine in all its glory. It now has an orange lanyard (it was the only color I could find in the house but looks pretty good) and doesn't leave my pocket. :)

It's beautiful...that's as far as I've gotten...

I'm amazed at how it feels in hand...such a comfortable, light blade for 3.5". The fit and finish feels different than other production knives. I'm not sure what it is, I guess this knife truly falls somewhere between a Production and a Custom...

They remind me of a teched out modern version of the traditional Bose Lanny's Clip. Is there a grip that you have found that you don't prefer as much. For example, I sometimes like to place my thumb in the choil or in front of the edge, placing the edge up. I never liked doing that on the Sebenza.

Gorgeous blade

Had to share this gorgeous back spacer

The only potential grip problem I can see is with a standard pistol grip if you have large hands. I have medium hands and they fit just right, large hands might be squeezed by the curve of the handle at the pommel.

Love that backspacer too. I will probably wind up getting another Olamic down the road too, all I know is this one stopped any other plans I had of ordering a custom knife for now :) Hasn't left my pocket since I got it last week. Amazing action and the sharpest knife I've gotten from factory. I'm actually afraid to try sharpening it down the road so I definitely need to practice.

Obligatory picture while I was at work today:

I bought a pretty plain version - anodized blue scales and M390. It was a ridiculously good price at russianknives.com and I'd been wanting to try one. I'm afraid that it's just whetted my appetite. I need to get a fancier version now.
