Its been a work week and here my thoughts on the wayfarer 247

Already talked to Eugene anout a full custom 247. Just waiting to hear back from him on the details.

I bought a pretty plain version - anodized blue scales and M390. It was a ridiculously good price at russianknives.com and I'd been wanting to try one. I'm afraid that it's just whetted my appetite. I need to get a fancier version now.

^ Please let me know if you decide to sell this when when/if you upgrade. I've been looking for a 247 (a user's fine); I just received a PM from Vlad this morning. If they had the 247 classic version in stock, I'd buy it.

I've had a plain 247 in M390 for about a month, mine has been a little less impressive than everyone else's but you can tell that it's just an issue with my specific knife:

1. Mine has a little bit of detent play in the closed position
2. The screw head on one of the body screws snapped off (such is the risk with Ti hardware, and Eugene sent me a replacement very quickly)
3. The edge on mine is very obtuse and dull

Eugene was extremely easy to get in touch with, so I'm sure if I sent mine back said issues would be remedied. The only design critique I would have is that it's very handle heavy. I would love to see the handles skeletonized, or an option for standoffs, to shift the weight forward a bit.

They have options where the handle has holes machined in them. The acid rain version is very light according to videos i have watched. Sorry about your issues bro. They will get taken care of.

^ Thanks for sharing this.

Actually, my ideal 247, would have the 5 hole pattern (like the one pictured in post 18- except a plain Ti version):

I too would prefer the hole pattern one, but like another poster I got a really good deal on mine from Russian Knives so I kind of had to take what I could get.

I'm just waiting to hear back from Vlad, regarding another 247 model he has in stock. At this point, I too am kind of willing to take a different variation of the 247, just to check one out.

Thanks again! :)

I just bought a stonewashed PVD plain 247 from RussianKnives.com this morning--apparently the last one, too. I looked around for one with holes or an uncoated stonewashed but, like others, I couldn't pass up the great price on the one I bought from Vlad. I'm glad I got it and can't wait to have it in hand. It's already shipped out and I'm holding out hope for Monday. I've just gotta satisfy myself with the dealer pics for now....

If i had the cash I would buy every variation of the 247 I could find and many custom 247s. Lovin the bronze hardware.

Ooh, that stonewashed finish with the bronze hardware looks sweet!!

Thanks, y'all. There's something about bronze against coarse stonewash that just clicks with me. I saw that knife this morning and just had to have it. It reminded me so much of my Dragon, which is an all-time favorite keeper.

I've got the feeling this won't be my last Olamic either.

I ordered my 247 Saturday and I picked it up at my PO this afternoon. What a beauty she is! We had a nice sunny day here on the Cape today and the light had a nice glow around 4 when I got home so I got some good shots out past the shed on the unspilt wood pile.

The knife has a very compact feel for having a 3 1/2" blade--an 1/8" shorter than my Inkosi which is in turn an 1/8" shorter than my 95T, but the 247 doesn't feel or carry big while still fitting and filling my hand very well. I must say, it's making me yearn for the full-size 4" Wayfarer too.

Oh and I just want to say I know these knives look awsome and pieces of art but they like to work. Dont be afraid of heavy use. They are not weaklings.

Yeah, but you can't fail to get a large Inkosi either, man. You know the standard Bladeforums answer--Get Both!! :p

You have a bank account? I just have knives...and bills. :grumpy:
