It's October let's watch some horror movies

Check out the AMC channel. The AMC Fearfest is on. It's like a horror movie marathon until Halloween. Also that's the channel that The Walking Dead is on. Great show, and scarey too.

The Horde is a really good zombie movie but it is in a different language but it is really good. gotaa watch on netflix foreign titles for horror movies the best!!

+1 on Peter Jackson's Dead Alive and Bad Taste (kind of hard to imagine he later directed lord of the rings after watching these two early classics).
For Japanese horror, Battle Royal is really good and on netflix. The Suicide Club was pretty decent too if I remember correctly.
The most recent horror/scary movie that got my attention was Silent Hill, I can't wait to watch the second one!
Also, for those times you just want some cheesy blood/guts and stupid comedy you can't go wrong with a good Troma flick (Toxic Avenger, Terror Firmer, etc.)! Here's their library if interested... http://www.troma.com/films/. They are definitely B movies at best, but some are classics!

The Thing - borderline brilliant. Once you've watched it seek out the youtube analysis ( you'll know which one) to be blown away by the level of thought in the movie's direction.

Let Me In - An excellent remake of the Swedish film

BUT, the only film that remains to this day the most deeply unnerving and truly "scary" work is one that I haven't seen mentioned yet -

Fire In The Sky.

That movie absolutely chilled me to the bone with its rendition of the abduction, plus the fact that it is supposed to have actually happened.

So many to choose from, some of my favorites are:
The Strangers
The Others
The Fourth Kind
The Exorcism of Emily Rose

if you like a good ghost story that is scary and atmospheric, pick up the Changeling with George C. Scott...it used to scare the bejeezus out of me when I was a little kid and it is still a good halloween movie even now....
