It's On Like Donkey Kong

When you're working out like that you probably wont notice a difference at the scale, but you should notice one on your belt line.

My belt line is thankfully still the same. I wear size 28" jeans, and they still need a belt so they don't drop down a bit.

Good for you!!! I was a 28" in like 10th grade :D Have you been eating a lot or lean protein? If not you should start IMO. That is probably why you're feeling kinda weak. Your body needs the energy from proteins to build more muscles.

I'm not feeling weak :P If anything, I seem to be able to go longer, faster, harder (insert that's what she said joke here) than before. When I said food fatigue, I meant I'm getting tired of the same old stuff every morning. The oatmeal is pretty bland, even with the added granola or random fruits.

My father in law has been eating oatmeal almost every morning for the past 12 years, I have no idea how he does it.

Oh, and the average 10th grader is taller than me :o

Copy that! I miss understood that. :foot: :D

I hear ya on the oatmeal. I can only eat that stuff for about a week or two before I get tired of it. Then I switch off to something else for a while, and I just keep going like that.

My Wife's grandfather was the same way with fish. He ate fish all the damn time, and was never tired of it. Probably a good thing though with the way food is now; having all the extra crap added into it.

Alright, not sure when the last time I posted was, Wednesday I think.

Lunch: School cafeteria chicken noodle soup and a salad

Dinner: No idea

Thursday

Breakfast: Ravioli

Lunch: Fajitas with rice and beans, and a metric ton of guacamole, cause that stuff is awesome.

Dinner: Very small turkey sandwich on wheat with mustard

Friday

Breakfast: Ravioli and an apple

Lunch: Ravioli and some triscuits

This next week I am off, so it will be a challenge to be good on the eating. We are going to celebrate our 5 year anniversary, so there may be a few slips, but I am confident I will be able to maintain a decently healthy diet while gone. Wish me luck folks!

I'm 6'5" tall, weight around 175lbs and wear 34w-34l or 34w-36l depending on the cut of the jeans and my mood. Would love to be around 185lbs with more muscle. Am taking a PE Class in college and I think it's helping. Messed up my joints a few years back and I've been in near constain pain since then, but recently I've been feeling lots better.

Still got to work on my Diet and weight lifting. Stretching and Cardio are easy for me to do. Weight lifting which will help me rebuild the screwed up muscles, not so much. Got to remember to get to the College Gym more instead of playing Half-Life 2 and other such games so much. LOL!!

Just my (somewhat daily) tidbit. How is everyone doing on this?

- Healthy eating plan:
○ Based on food pyramid-website mypyramid.gov (or DASH diet or Mediterranean pyramid or other healthy eating plan) All of these plans are designed to meet nutrient needs for the most part.
○ At least 1200 cal/day for women and 1500 cal/day for men
○ Smaller portion sizes
○ Individualized /includes common foods/includes foods person likes
○ Healthy weight loss about 1/2 - 2 pounds a week
○ Should aim for health improvement
○ Focuses on making slow and eventually permanent behavior changes in both eating and exercise

- Tips for making behavior changes
○ Keep an eating diary
○ Learn from mistakes
○ Learn to problem-solve common situations holidays, vacations, stressful situations, changes in routine. Plan ahead if possible
○ Try to stay in a supportive environment

I think the biggest revelation from my recent "dieting" is that the amount of food and the types of food I was eating were doing nothing more than actively keeping me fat. I have cut down on portions, changed the types of foods, and in the last two weeks lost 10 lbs. I haven't been actively trying to weigh myself, and am not really hung up on the numbers, but weighed myself last week and this week just to kinda see what was happening. 10 pounds is a lot of weight to have disappear in that span of time, and it didn't happen from me starving myself, or doing more exercise, or anything other than eating better. From that I draw my conclusion that I was actively keeping myself fat just by eating the way I did.

My energy, well let's just say that both myself and the missus have reaped the benefits of more energy due to this. Which kind of surprised me. Why do I get more energy? MY theory is that my body was using quite a bit of energy just trying to digest all the junk I was stuffing into it day in and day out. Now that it doesn't have to do that, I get more of that energy back, able to be used for other things. Like not being so tired, like being able to run up a flight or two of stairs without being winded, like hauling a bunch of weight plates into and out of a truck today without feeling like I was going to die from doing it. Plus the bedroom energy. That is good energy. I like that energy. The missus likes it too.

But like I said, keeping track of weight isn't my goal, nor is it my measuring stick for this process. Energy, that is a huge benefit that I get to feel, not a number that may or may not mean that much. So far though, my favorite aspect is that the belt I am wearing now is officially out of holes. I went from belt notch number 3 to belt notch number 5. That right there is huge for me. That is a good two inches of loss from right in the middle, and that makes me happy as a fat kid in a candy store.

I plan to stick with it, and sure, I will have deviations and screwups, but I am going to do my damndest to keep this going, because the benefits are just too good to pass up at this stage in my life.

To the rest of you, keep it up, stick with it, and when the time comes for a Gathering that most of us can make it to, it will be even better cause we will all be able to do way cooler stuff.

Ok, I'm not a scale watcher, but I got out of the shower this morning, and a comment from a guy I work with yesterday got me curious. He told me my face looked thinner for some reason.

So far, I'm down 11lbs, and I'm pretty sure I got a nice paleo duece waiting for my morning coffee to hit.

My exercise has been quite spontaneous, since I have so many things that have started the last couple of weeks, its ridiculous. But, the food and drink change has started to take effect it would seem.

Awesome guys!!!! Loosing slow is the way to go. There is a better chance of your body being able to keep it off if you loose weight slowly because your BMR can keep up with the weight loss.

As of monday night I was down 8 lbs in 8 weeks. I'm proud of that!!

Keep it up guys!!!!!

There, fixed that for ya.

Congrats on the 8 lbs! I have been trying to go slow, but my body apparently had different ideas. I checked myself on the scale at home at the beginning of the week. Now this scale is the one that originally gave me my initial weight of 250 a couple of months ago. I didn't weigh myself when I got started (three weeks ago ish) but up until that point I hadn't changed anything diet nor activity level wise, so I am pretty certain that when I got started I was starting from 250. Anyways, I weighed myself monday, and the weight given was 230. That is twenty frickin pounds! In any event, I wasn't trying to lose it that fast, but hey, if the body wants to drop it, let it.

Anyways, just got back from a several day getaway with the missus. Got to demonstrate my increased energy levels due to the weight loss. Got to demonstrate alot. Many times. :D

Thanks. I caint spel reel gud. ;)

Ya! I think my scale here at home is off also. This morning it said I'm already 4 lbs lighter than I was on monday

If you cut out all the empty and pointless calories that you don't need your body should shed the weight pretty quick. I really haven't changed much about my activity level either, and I'm still going down.

In my weight loss class I've learned it's about eating responsibly, and being aware of what you are eating (calorie wise).

Derekh I hope that you stopped punching her then :D;)
