Well, my problems with Mr. Johnson is finally over. He still came up short, but I figured I should be happy with whatever I can get, rather than get nothing at all.
Apparently, my email got to his CO, and he agreed to meet with Marvin (mtaber) who, all these times, is doing the errands for me (my deepest thanks to Marvin).
Even after telling him that we wanted cash instead of knives, he still showed up with the knives, so Marvin did take them in, but he didn't sign anything releasing him from his obligation until I agree.
I gave it some thought, and decided that this has gone long enough, so I'll just settle with whatever he thought was fair and square.
Marvin is currently trying to help me dispose of most of them right now... and from the looks of it, he's doing like those guys at Home TV Shopping Network... lol..
At least that's what I think when I read our email exchanges.
I would just like to let everyone know, that the reason I'm after my cash as much as possible, is because I no longer consider it mine, but in fact, am going to send it to a local orphanage here called Chosen Children's Village, which is located in Cavite City (for those of you who knows the spots here in my country). I sponsor a kid each year, and this time, the money that I will collect from this guy, I WILL be sending over to them, coz I know it will help them a lot. These kids are left by their uncaring parents while they are still babies. Some of them were taken in from the streets, to save them against pedophiles and gangs. The institution itself is run by an American couple, both missionaries.
So to Mr. Johnson, I will do my share and write to your CO again, clearing out everything. In a way, I guess I should thank you for stalling me all these times, because if you had given me back my money earlier, I would have just spent it on knives all over again. Now that it took blood and sweat and tears to get it back after almost a year, I will make sure it goes to a worthy cause. I hope that gives you a little peace of mind as well.
I just want to say THANK YOU, again, to Mr. Marvin Taber, of which this would not have been possible without his help. And to Brian Caffrey, who stuck it out with me all these times, and consoled me when I'm down.
And of course, to all my fellow forumites, you know who you are. I feel that here, the word "friend and family" has more meaning than what I see daily around me. My sincerest thanks to all, and to BFC.
God Bless You All!
Dan
