It's snark in here.

While I'm ranting about 100 buck steaks. I would even bet money those steaks still wouldn't be as good as the backstraps of a freshly killed deer. I know many deer hunters that are only concerned with how big of a buck they can get or how big the horns are. Screw that! I've killed many deer. My throphy is the bacstraps. YUM!

What makes deer meat better, is the enjoyment involved in getting the kill yourself and butchering it with your own hands.

In my opinion, that makes it feel like one has earned it.

Regarding stripping blades, you know what works great no matter the temperature?

Elbow grease and sandpaper, you wussies.:D

:p

I guess a pipe burst in my garage. Too bad I noticed a few minutes after I turned the water on... Time to look for a mop.

Agreed!

Two words... belt grinder. :D

I'm sure that's true. But speaking as someone who's never killed a deer, just eaten venison shared with me by friends/family who have, I still like it better than grocery store beef :)

I still wouldn't pay $50 for a steak of it though :p

I'd recommend plex piping instead of copper.

I might just use pex piping. I don't remember exactly when this was put in, but it didn't last as long as it should have. The pipes are against a poorly insulated wall and the overhead garage doors, so it got pretty cold their within the last few weeks.

snark is low today.
and so is my productivity. Pretty much a wasted day. lousy feeling. :(
Crazy rain and wind here, with ridiculously warm temperatures for the season.
At the moment I don't mind, as we just got an oil delivery and bill this morning. :(

Lengthy, but a good watch:

$50 for a niiice steak is a good way to treat yourself every once and a while. You can get a fine steak for less, sure. But if you go to a proper steak joint it's on a different level. Place we go to here will run about $40-55 per steak plus the cost of a side to split, can easily say the best I've ever had.

If you've never had one I'd suggest trying it at least once. And before you think I'm some high-roller, just put away $10-15/ month and go once a year with your lady. I'm sure she'll be happy to show her appreciation too :D

Now $100+ raw... Yeah I don't trust myself to do the steak justice, lol. Rather have somebody put the plate in from of me for that money. But hey I've never tried it, so who knows, maybe once before I croak.

That sucks JD

No shot show for me either though......

But today has been a lovely rainy day here. Warmer and raining. Ill take it.

It's crazy warm here as well. I just got called into work too. Of course what I was told I was coming in for is not even remotely close. I was told I was interpreting Dr rounds. Turns out they want me here till at least 10, maybe later.

CCMI has a valid point. It's totally worth it. Another idea is to go to the fancy schmancy steak place, for lunch. A lot of times they will have a burger or something that they grind themselves with the left over trimmings from the week before and they are AMAZING and usually not expensive either!

I'm seriously considering when I get some money coming back in I'll order some Benton's and a steak from Paul Frieda.

biru and 'dashi tested and approved.
