It's snark in here.

One of the brilliant things about getting through life with no kids, plenty of time to play my games. And eat good food without having to share.

For me, the best part about good food, particularly making good food, is sharing it. Awakening the senses and watching someone truly appreciate something that tastes like food was intended to (not from a box) is one of the best things in life.

So if you're gonna play country music, you gotta have a Martin in the band, And if the Martin is singing with loose dentures, he'll be singing songs with words that no one understands. :D

Spelling counts...

Attempting to tune a marten will nearly always end in tears... :(

I totally agree! I remember one time for family supper grandma wanted me to make green beans casserole. She didn't have any of the shoestring onions but she had fresh onions. I just made some french fried onions real quick to put on top while the green beans cooked. She swore it was the greatest she ever had that casserole. I fully admit it was super yummy!

... meat-space...

That's a heckuva turn of phrase

Most humans are indeed, little more than bags of meat with eyes, heavily seasoned with misguided desires and ego-trips that make no sense at all.

While I prefer to deal with humans as little as possible, it's an unavoidable fact that learning/dealing with their habits and quirks is necessary, unless one has a plan to literally live out one's life completely alone... which sucks.

I'm not entirely "against" home-schooling... I do see certain compelling advantages to it. But I also feel that public interaction and a certain degree of socialization is deeply important for young people.

I'm home schooled, not a mushroom!

I don't think home schooling prevents socialization at all, if done properly. It can be a disaster if done improperly.

But your comment is very cogent. The "I am a rock, I am an island" thing doesn't work well.

Well said! :)

Absolutely!

Other than perhaps shelter, sharing food is THE primordial expression of love and compassion. Every culture on the planet has deep and sincere roots in hospitality... there's a strong, deep, evolutional reason for that.

I'd rather be out in the cold sharing a very simple meal with a friend or relative, than be in a mansion with them and starve.

long, but you get the idea in the first couple minutes. Pretty cool. couple years old.

Very true. I remember learning in High School that Shakespeare often would have a character eating alone (Othello, Macbeth, etc.) to illustrate their withdrawing from relevancy, increased isolation, and loss of sanity in many cases.

in before the LOCK!

Off to the upstate for some hiking and hopefully carcamping (unless it's effing freezing).

Flask and overnight bag are full to the brim. Wish me luck :D

Right on

That's why Thanksgiving is far-and-away my favorite holiday.
