It's snark in here.

When I was gaming a lot we would run tracert logs to see where in the country to rent our game servers from.. our group was Texas based and we ended up with servers in Michigan because they were the fastest for all the Texas members and the guys in BC Canada too.. I probably still have some old folders on my back up drive full of tracert logs..

I knew about that. Saw a youTube video of a guy taking his cell apart, and there was an extra battery, and a microphone. What a shock. On your computer, bring up the command prompt, type in "tracert nsa.gov" without the quotation marks. You'll see they're watching you. Anyways, enough of politics.

what the....

All that the tracert (trace route) command does is show the path your computer would take to any given web space. It's a diagnostic utility and the same command will work for bladeforums.com or google.com. Not saying there's nothing happening, but that one is garbage. Perhaps all it does is alert them that you are buying into paranoia.

+1
I was gonna say this but see I am late. And as Bladite mentions, if you have a lousy network, it will often time out. And pings are more likely to draw attention since they are sometimes used in denial of service attacks.

This is a really interesting conversation. BUT I think there are two sides to each coin which one is probably quite a bit more devious than the other. Yes, the government has probably spied on someone in this forum room, maybe even all of us, but at the same time you have to think, what does the government have to really gain from that beyond just an obvious invasion of privacy. Well, I submit to you that most of the spying done online, through your devices, and electronics is committed more so by companies and corporations. Why? Because what ever they learn can earn them money. Essentially tailoring products and services to us. This same thing is already done online. Webpages look at your data input, where you visit, buy, etc and format that into a unique perspective so that they can create and design products, services, and marketing methods better to you and the public. They admittedly do this already, but no one seems to care all that much, most folks are worried about the NSA spying on them, why are we not worried about Proctor and Gamble, and AT&T?

Of course I have not had my coffee yet so this all could be bullspit.

Snark away my friends!

Thundering outside.

Just for the Snark, I was looking at your Nordic proverb on your sig line and it made me thing about the Anglo Saxons. As I am sure we are all well aware of the Saxons carried a blade called a Seax. It essentially was their everything knife from food to fight, but they were also symbolic. Only free men were allowed to carried a seax, and the absence of such a blade meant that you were a slave. SOOO next time someone asked you why you have a knife put on your best Saxon war face and tell them because you are a free man.

SIDE NOTE: No thunder but it did rain. That is all.... :D

i don't get much in the way of a response to that. maybe the work firewall.

and if they weren't watching you they will be

for 2014, just consider unplugging or putting a post it over all cameras you aren't using. including your xbox or playstations, wi, your tv, phones, tablets, the hidden on in your shower head and alarm clock :D

the LG TVs have this "share your personal information and phone home" menu. yes/no. which the device ignores. many people have reported setting up firewall traps, and noticed that the TV basically is reading your network, reporting the filenames of any media it finds, and that you watch, all your activity, and more. then they lied about it. then they backtracked and said it was for marketing, and that they weren't saving the information; then the geeks pointed out a few details.

worse, they also did this in Europe, esp Germany, which has amazingly strict privacy laws. LG is going to be fine MILLIONS of dollars, if not BILLIONS :)

yes, your crap is spying on you. more and more so. would not surprise me if it's a combination of NSA requirements, and requests, or just plain "getting to know you", and the companies then decide to to whatever they like with it.

your car too: http://www.businessinsider.com/ford-exec-gps-2014-1
I will be keeping my 20 y.o. tube TV then ;).

Damn extended forecasts, haha. Next weekend was "supposed" to be 44° down south for the hike, now they're saying 35°. As long as it doesn't rain, we'll be good to go. And if it does rain, hanging out in a cabin is not such a bad thing.

Ok, that is actually interesting. I love history-esque stuff. I have a new reason to carry a knife!

I don't even know if my sig line is a legit quote, haha. Someone had it at BCUSA, and I liked the sound of it. Cool history though.

Yah there are a lot of instances where blade/s are/where carried for religious rights, to show manhood, and freedom etc. It happens in a lot of different cultures. Modern representations would be like the Sikhs and their Kirpan. Which the Kirpan blade has been approved as a religious symbol freeing wearers from having to abide by weapon laws on campuses and other public places. Zulu's (if I remember correctly) had very unique shaped blades that resembled male genitals. The Scottish Sgian-Dubh is another culturally important blade. There are so many instances both historically, and even today, where a knife is carried not only for use, but also as a representation of the wearers belief and culture. If you ask me its all very cool.

Stop looking up weird porn and how to build a suitcase nuke, and you won't have any problems :D

Dangit... just by typing those phrases I've probably got myself put on a list somewhere, now

Your tube TV actually has a small VCR inside to record your movements (why the hell else do you think they're so big and heavy?).

Fortunately, if you open it up you can just rewind and tape over it :p

"In later news area man was apprehended by the NSA for reportedly talking to others online about building a quote "Weird Porn Suitcase Nuke." Authorities have apprehended and charged the suspect." "Now we go live to the story were two other men have been arrested for indecent exposure. These men where reportedly exposing their genitals and rectums to webcams. The suspects where found in a local Starbucks standing in front of and bending over several patrons computers and smart phones. The accused could not be reached for comment."
