Hey everyone, quick advice needed. Me 'n the fam' are heading for a week's vacation in D.C. starting Saturday. Would love some ideas on what might be fun to see or do. Thoughts? Thanks!

Go to the Air and Space Museum Annex out at Dulles, the main one in the mall is terrible in comparison. If you are looking for a good place to eat for cheap, check out the old post office pavilion building for some random cheap foods that don't taste terrible at all. Chima Brazilian Steakhouse over at Tyson's Corner is amazing, I highly recommend it for food. Definitely take the tour of the Library of Congress, that is pretty cool. Other than that, just have fun man, there is a ton of stuff to do there, although the maps are deceptive in their scale.

a few more photos for you yanks

Lots of pics at the Condor table. They got some lookers. I might have to check out a couple of those. Lookin forward to GB's thoughts on his.

And could someone tell me where I can get a tramontina.

My elbow friggin' hurt after my softball game tonight.
So I came home and "iced" it with a vodka bottle.
Then I proceeded to drink the remaining vodka.
I'm feeling a lot better.

Thanks to the Condor booth. They gave my son a free t-shirt.
Thanks also to Thomas W in the Kershaw booth. He gave my son a free knife.

SMKW used to be the go-to place for $6 Trams. No more. That stinks.
Try Googling "Tramontina machete" and then select the Shopping view. Lots of choices.

This was the reply to my query about a BH series of knives from KaBar. Am I the only one who is excited!?

yes

by the way, the woman with the RBK is "mrs hank", also currently running Baen Books. in case you were wondering.

lots of Hank's other stuff was there

oh, the fish was delish. 16 inches, 1.9 lbs. noice.

Usually I'd be a little more proactive about stuff like this but I know y'all go the hook up. Thanks Thrill!

BTW, the Tram is my favorite 18" machete, bar none. I hate that SMKW converted to Marbles. I bought an 18" Marbles, and the handles rattled immediately.

Man, I'm freakin' plastered.

Eighteen years ago, my wife and I went to D.C. for the first time together.
She had the best freakin' Sex on the Beach at a D.C. bar/restaurant, and I wound up calling them later for the recipe.
We still use that recipe here at home.

Teaser!

I can't help too much with the sights but when I had to spend a few weeks working in DC about 10 years ago, I remember going to a restaurant in Georgetown called Old Glory and liking it. I don't want to say it's great Southern food and offend any Southerners on here, but it was pretty good food. They had specials too and I think it was rabbit one night. I didn't try it but whatever it was I did get, probably ribs or some pulled pork or fish, it was delicious. They had some great cornbread and peach butter too.

My trails have included Georgia, Alabama, Virginia, and Tennessee. And I'm offended, dammit. :D
Not really. You should have tried the rabbit.

VietNam Memorial, WWII Memorial, ditto on Air & Space.

You gotta' visit the Smithsonian too, just so you can say you did. The exhibits rotate, at least partially, so who knows what you'll see?

Yeah, I should have. I still haven't gotten around to trying it but I just thought my first time trying something like that shouldn't be at a restaurant.

So I'm planning my trip to Custer State Park in SD, driving from MN. Anyone have any suggestions for must see stops along the way? Or while in the park. I'll be there 8-3 to 8-7, and this is an open invitation to any BH's who want to stop by the camp site.
