Its Snark Is Worse Than Its Bite ... CHAT

So I'm planning my trip to Custer State Park in SD, driving from MN. Anyone have any suggestions for must see stops along the way? Or while in the park. I'll be there 8-3 to 8-7, and this is an open invitation to any BH's who want to stop by the camp site.
Been there a few times. Make sure to go to the observation deck. I think it's called Mt. Coolidge. And make sure to drive through the Needles. Of course Crazy Horse monument, and Mt. Rushmore are nearby. Keystone, next to Mt. Rushmore, has a ski lift that takes you up to a restaurant, and nice scenery. You can ride a wheeled sled back down, pretty fun. Devil's Tower Wyoming is only about 85 miles from there as well.

Also, behind Mt. Rushmore, about a half mile or so, is a picnic area called Breezy Point. Go back there, and take the walk on the sidewalk there. SOme breath taking scenery. Here's what it looks like:

I just watched a piece on Devil's Tower, but couldn't remember where it was. Thanks Dubz for the reminder! That thing would be worth an impromptu trip!

Devil's Tower is close to Gilette Wyoming. Here's a few pics. Couldn't find the good ones, dammit.

It was hot as hell. Luckily, there was this for Mrs. T to push me around in so that worked out.

Edc, I might have to make the trip down there. I'll have to see how my job situation is around then, but I've always wanted to get down there and check things out and meet a fellow Beckerhead.

Just ordered a copy of Joy of Cooking on ebay and am going to order Wildwood Wisdom tonight too. Anyone have any other suggestions for books?

Way of Kings, by Brandon Sanderson, Hard Contact, by Karen Traviss, Furies of Calderon, by Jim Butcher, Point of Impact, by Stephen Hunter, On Basilisk Station, by David Weber, Magician, by Raymond E. Feist. I could go for a LONG time.

Or did you mean stuff related to useful skills and such, like the other two you mentioned :D

"Bushcraft" by Richard Graves and "War on the run" by John F. Ross are two of my favorites.

Just watched Sherlock Holmes 2. I liked it, and I liked the first one. I have the Sherlock Holmes collection.....some of my favorite books/stories.

I was thinking more along useful information books, but other suggestions are good too. I don't read much, or actually at all, but am planning to start reading a book now and then. I'll check out your suggestions.

It never seems to change much. The government offered them a 10 million dollar grant, but the Indians refused it. Probably would have gotten more finished, but I do understand.

At this pace it'll take at least another 30-40 years. By then ill be about 60 and most likely dead.
