Been there a few times. Make sure to go to the observation deck. I think it's called Mt. Coolidge. And make sure to drive through the Needles. Of course Crazy Horse monument, and Mt. Rushmore are nearby. Keystone, next to Mt. Rushmore, has a ski lift that takes you up to a restaurant, and nice scenery. You can ride a wheeled sled back down, pretty fun. Devil's Tower Wyoming is only about 85 miles from there as well.So I'm planning my trip to Custer State Park in SD, driving from MN. Anyone have any suggestions for must see stops along the way? Or while in the park. I'll be there 8-3 to 8-7, and this is an open invitation to any BH's who want to stop by the camp site.
Also, behind Mt. Rushmore, about a half mile or so, is a picnic area called Breezy Point. Go back there, and take the walk on the sidewalk there. SOme breath taking scenery. Here's what it looks like:
