I've become a 3 knife carrier...........

Usually just two, My EDC rotation and a LM Wave..

Sometimes I'll carry an additional fixed blade when strolling into the police department..oops, strolling in the woods..:D:rolleyes:

Thanks for the replies folks. It looks like I'm in good company with the more than 2 knife carrying crowd!:D

I kept the knife in my wallet today and again it is no problem to carry and I forget it is in there after a while.:)

EDITED; Does anyone know what the total weight is for the knives you are carrying everyday?

well i guess im the oddball here, i used to edc 6 blades but living in sheeple central cali kinda made me change my mind, but im only down to 4-5 now

used to have a
home-made boot knife 2 oz

spyderco delica FFG ZDP-189 2.3oz

I cary three as well. one folder, one fixed blade, and a small neck knife that I never take off. knives are toys and tools

I carry two on my person. I carry a small single bladed slip join or a sak. My other is my main larger folder being my large sebenza.

Sounds like oppression to me... :thumbdn:

You're either way to scared/cautious of policemen (or your perception of one), or the area you live in isn't too great.
Yeah, it's kind of a mix of both, but I still give police the benefit of the doubt and think it has more to do with my experience and perception than with police actually having something wrong with them. I still try to avoid dealing with them as much as possible (without breaking the law of course). I don't even like to attend or host parties because I don't want the police showing up for noise complaints.

I've carried three knives before though, it's just, I kind of feel like I have to give myself a reason for it otherwise I just don't feel comfortable doing it. Like I said, I still worry sometimes that I'll get in trouble carrying a Kulgera and an Izula.

But, yeah, this is my usual carry...

Izula with micarta scales and wrap: 3.3 Oz
Benchmade Kulgera: 3.04 oz
(On occasion)
Case Trapper: 3.8 Oz

Either that or...

Izula...
Kershaw Needs Work: 4.09 Oz
(On occasion)
Schrade USA Uncle Henry stockman: 2.88 Oz

Sometimes I'll just trade the one-handed folders for a slip-joint though. Depends on the circumstances; mostly I'll opt for a slip-joint if I'm going somewhere like a restaurant, a movie theater, some kind of convention or something. The one-handers I have tend to put people on their toes and make them make remarks like, "Do you really need a knife like that?"

Main "go-to" right pocket big folder: Demko custom Navajah........................... 199.9 grams

Fixed blade on belt: Sam Stoner 5160 and African Blackwood in a CM sheath.... 102 grams (171.6 grams with sheath)

Sheeple friendly: Case small toothpick in blue bone............................................ 16.6 grams

Charlie M, your making me work hard to figure it out in ounces!:)

But I got the following;

Demko- 7.05 ounces

Stoner- 3.06 ounces sheath- 2.45 ounces

Case- 0.59 ounces

TOTAL w/sheath- 13.15 ounces

Strap on that hammer and you'll have some poundage!!:D

I usually pack just one or two small knives.

I might grab a medium single blade folder and like a small folder like my Spyderco Chicago. If its a weekend, I may pack a Leatherman too...that adds some weight. Here's a couple of set ups

Leatherman Kick...5.2 oz
Spyderco Chicago...2.2 oz
Spyderco Paramilitary 2 S90V CF....3.7ish oz.

probably running around 11.1 oz or so of steel.

If I go with a weekend outdoors set up

Buck 110 w/STR pocket clip/thumbstud....7.2 oz
Spyderco Salt 1....2 oz
Leatherman kick...5.2 oz

That will run me up around 14.4oz
thats close to a pound...

If I choose my 3 heaviest, and I usually don't carry 3 single blade knives, it'd probably be my buck 110, spyderco sage and spyderco military. Its doubtful that I would ever carry all three of those since two of them are similar in size and functionality.

Thus, typically I'll just rock 1 blade and make sure that it is a good size for what I expect to be doing that day. I say we throw some pics in too...I'll post mine up later today!

At the moment in 5.11 pants
Front Left: Leatherman Juice S2
Back Left: Sog Flash II
Back Right: BM Nitrous Stryker Tanto
5.11 Knife Pocket: Spyderco Resilience

Rest of current rotation: BM 950, BM 940, ZT0350

When not in 5.11 pants
FL: Juice S2
FR: folder of the day
Back Left clipped to belt: Ka-bar TDI

I carry usually 1 - 3 knives depending on day. Usually I carry 2 slippies or slippie and one hand opener. But usually I have larger folder with smaller people friendly slipjoint.

my one hand rotation clipped on my watchpocket:
BM 558 Mini Ritter Grip in M4
Spyderco Sage 1 in S30V
Spyderco Bob Terzuola in S30V
spyderco UKPK Orange G10 in S30V
Spyderco Urban Foliage green in VG-10

and slipjoints carried beneath the wallet in right front pocket or in sheath in left pocket with cellphone and flashlight:

Northfield bloodred jigged bone 4 blade congress in 1095
Northfield Bloodred jigged bone Toothpick in 1095
Northfield #48 slimline Ancient Walnut bone single blade trapper in 1095
Case humpack medium stockman in Tru-Sharp
Queen Honey Amberbone Canoe in D2
Queen small Dan Burke barlow in D2

Multitools that I usually carry besides pocket knife
Victorinox Pioneer / Alox Soldier
Victorinox Spirit Carver X (Spirit with regular modified spearpoint blade instead regular combo sheepshoof blade)

I mostly use slipjoint for work and they are far less offensive for most people than one hand opener. But I've been in situation where one hand knife has saved me front great injury and in that situation I could haven't used two hands, so I carry very often a modern folder too, though in past months I have been favoured traditional slipjoints.

1.Fixed horizontal crossdraw: Streetbeat, ZT 150, Shadowtech,Greco, etc.
2.4" folder strong side FP:806, 710, 610, Endura waved, Millie, Recon 1.
3.Leatherman clipped weakside FP: Black Kick, Skeletool.

I carry 2 ...a zt 0200 and a camillus trapper,about 14oz,s in total...when im hunting i carry a grohmann no4,schrade 1940t,case soddy,and a speedbump....at work (carpenter) i carry a boker tanto serrated and a wharncliff lockback..

I always carry the bottom two and have been carrying the top one most times.
top is a Diaz tools Frog Leg
bottom two are benchmade folders Rift and Griptillian, don't know the model numbers.

Judging by the size of the grip compared to the rift, i'd say that its a 551...mines a 556

Here we go...

Buck 110, Spyderco Salt 1, Leatherman Kick

Another Pic of the same 3 knives.

And now, the Leatherman/ Spyderco Para 2 CF S90V combo....

These are pretty sweet blades, sorry I don't have an available pic of the Chicago...it holds its own pretty well though when faced with some cutting tasks.

i am now just a light user of pocket knives and carry only 2; my primary is a simple vic alox soldier for utility and personal use and my second is a cheap imported buck stockman carried in my back pocket and use this knife as a loaner or so-called beater.

as for the police and carrying multiple knives, i can say this;

i'm a retired cop from what was a major city and considered one if not the most dangerous cities in the u.s. during my time as a street cop i would only rarely come across a subject carrying more than 1 knife--be it a traditional or tactical. to get a 'feel' for the person, i might question why thet were carrying 'so many' if the person turned out to be some junkie or suspected burglar, my demeanor would change somewhat. if that was not the case, then i just simply went by the persons demeanor and if that was reasonable, i just wrote it off. as for searching the person, many cops in tougher areas would have no problem conducting an illegal search as 'the end justified the means'. my suggestion to all here is to avoid carrying muliple 'tactical' knives unless you can really justify it to a potential judge or jury one day. hope this helps or at least gives some food for thought.

all my best to all here in this forum,

brian

Thank you for your opinion; it's always interesting to hear them from the "other side". But I have to restate my earlier opinion that a person does not have to justify doing something that isn't illegal. Of course, the person's demeanor, as well as the original reason(s) for stopping and searching him are the real issue, but an arrest cannot be made, nor prosecuted, if no law has been broken. I know there are states where having a weapon in possession in furtherance of a crime can add additional charges, but if no laws are being broken in the first place, then the person has nothing to worry about. At least, that's how I feel here in Arizona; things might be different in Kansas, although certainly the cities aren't the same as the rural, farmland Kansas (Larned) my mom's family is from and I'm familiar with.

I always carry four while i'm working. Large folder(clips) in right and left rear pockets, small gentleman's folder right front pocket and always one traditional slipjoint in utility pocket. I guess i'm lucky because I work at a place where most of us carry multiple knives and sort of look at folks funny if they DON'T have at least one! There are also several of us that collect knives and by changing out our EDCs it's a great way of "showing off" your stuff to other enthusiasts. I have been exposed to several knife brands that I may have never even looked at because of this (tragic).
When i'm not working I always carry one traditional slippie and one non-traditional usually with pocket clip.
Sorry that I can't give an accurate weight because it's constantly changing, I just buy good belts. ;)
