I've decided. I found the "one".

The Adamas folder? Yes, very nice. I just got one; I like it, but will probably never carry it unless I go hunting...which is less likely now that I'm older than dirt.
I've seen my Grayman Dua's, Benchmade 710, countless Spyderco models, Three Sisters Forge Beast, CRK Sebenzas and Zaans, several Hinderer XM-18's, a whole gamut of Striders in various configurations, and ...most recently, the TAD Dauntless Mk3, which is in my pocket right now. My favorite, until recently, has been CRK over a few years of carry-time. My TAD is still brand new; time will tell.
"THE HUNT" is perhaps more important to me than the answer...as the "answer" changes often.

Some good "older than dirt" advice! Btw, I'm also older than dirt, at least that is what my body is telling me! LOL

Right on B.B. Still searching here. About all I'm settled on is it will be around four inches long.

Love the Adams, the Presidio, the ASO, the Pardue 3550 and how about my Randalls.

Love the all.

Spyderco Manix II, black S30V/plain edge blade and hardware, with John Grimsmo's custom aluminum scales, anodized bronze. I've always loved the Manix II, especially the ergonomics. I settled on that one being "the one" a while back, but I wanted one in a standard production steel, not a "Super-Steel". (Nothing against "Super-Steels", but if I can't sharpen it on my old Arkansas stone, it just doesn't appeal to me.)

Pretty amazing piece of machinery; "wicked elegance" comes to mind.

First it was an old Victorinox my grandpappy gave me back when I was 5. Then it was a Smith and Wesson "Delta" knife I bought at Big 5 for twenty bucks. Then it was a CRKT Apache II in ATS-34 my ex fiance stole from me...so I bought a Benchmade 890. She's my baby now always sees carry along with my Griptilian.

That looks awesome!

Thanks. :) The first Manix II I had was the standard model in 154CM, and the fit & finish & polish was the nicest I'd seen on a production knife to date. Sold & traded several, decided to get myself a keeper, and bought (or traded for?) this one.

I switched out the hardware & blade with a plain G10 polished model, and switched the hardware back the next day. The black blade & hardware with the bronze-anodized scales is visually perfect, IMO.

i loved my adamas. until i realized it was so overkill for what i use my knife for. lately i have been enjoying my bk11 and my izula again. i find belt carry very easy with these tiny blades and i love being able to get my hand totally in my front pocket again :) it lets me carry a slightly larger flashlight with me also.

but until the next knife the becker bk 11 is really doing it for me (also super cheap compared to others i own. almost makes me want to carry it more because i dont hesitate to scrap metal with the edge. or use it for something i wouldnt use my sebenza with a fresh edge on it)

The one for me is actually two. Neither were love at first sight and neither are about looks. Function is the primary driver but function has produced deep respect and now a sense of calm. I didn't understand why these always ended up in the EDC bowl or why, if I choose something else in the morning, why I switched back the next day. Everything about this pair works better than anything else I've tried. The calm is being at peace with that.

Opinel in RFP. Micra in LFP.
