I've got an itch for a Cattle Knife, but what exactly is a Cattle Knife?

Thanks for the kind words all.
Unfortunately it caused a bit of a stir with SWMBO when she saw the paypal statement. Man that exchange rate is poor at the moment.
Luckily I have at my disposal a brain which can think up ways of justifying outrageous purchases at the drop of a hat.
I said "Sweetie, I was a fireman for 30 years. Its $AUD 21.67 per annum. I'm worth it.";)

Haha meako, just tell her you only retire once( hopefully)! The Case/Bose is an awesome knife, I've always got mine in my pocket.

As I think I may be transitioning to a simpler life with pocket knives, this is still one pattern that has eluded me. I'm thinking I need to find the right one to see if it can be my second knife (next to a Peanut) as opposed to the Case 6375. Does anyone have other fine examples?

Thanks, Woodrow, these old knives seem to have the nicest bone on them.

Maybe it's just the honest wear that's so appealing.

I think that's part of it, but to be honest, modern iterations don't seem as random. I think the randomness adds to the appeal.

Dude, I have the case Bose in ebony and love it. It's darn near custom fitment. I did have to get the main blade tightened up a bit on closing but case made it nearly perfect.

I like it so much that I'm having ploppert make me one in ivory just with the small clip swapped out for a pen blade. I especially like that the wharncliff opens right handed along with the main blade.

These two are Junior Cattle Knife siblings, an Ulster and a Schrade made from the same tooling IMO. 3 3/8", with very traditional Cattle knife blades. Great size for a Senior knife carrier!!:D
