While I love my Strider SNG I just cannot seem to be able to maintain a decent edge on it. I've had a very nice convex edge put on it but I can't seem to bring it back to hair poppin myself, no matter how much stropping !!

My SJTAC on the other hand gets used twice as much. I batton with it everyday and when it's getting a bit dull (takes a while) I give it a few strokes on an oil stone and a little strop and it'll shave a nats ballingi hairs !!

What is a nice INFI alternative to fix this problem, I'm thinking of trading ??

Criteria:

THIN
Light
Full Height Grind

Remember S30V is very tough steel so it will take a little longer.

That may be but what's the point in it if you need a workshop to get it sharp again.

Sometimes I only have a rock !!

Dump it
Get one of these from Guyon

S30V is harder to sharpen but will hold that edge longer. INFI is super easy to sharpen. You don't need a workshop full of tools to sharpen S30V, but you do need some skill sharpening. It's up to you if you want to improve your sharpening skills or try something else.

I have improved my sharpening skills, but I'm still lazy, so I stick to INFI and might have one or two folders in S30V in a drawer somewhere.

my sharpening skills have come a long way but I think the only way to sharpen S30V is with diamond stones !!

Oil stones just don't seem to have the bite, I'm so over being into knives that look cool but aren't easy to use !!

INFI is my friend when it comes to sharpening !!

NO oil! Try a 1000 grit water stone and pull the blade backwards till the burr forms then buff it off.

It's stainless. Good stainless is tough to sharpen, almost universally.

Try to sharpen some of the 154CM from Scrap Yard or Swamp Rat. It's a bear to get sharp. But it'll hold that edge forever.

I don't even like Strider, but to claim they "look cool but aren't easy to use" because you don't know how to sharpen them is pretty ridiculous. A scrap of leather and ten bucks worth of sandpaper from auto zone will let you put a hair splitting edge on that S30V with a little bit of patience and practice.

I always pull back ...

Water and oil stones are kind of getting stale too - why should I have to put some gooo on the stone !!

Will diamond stones be any good.

Any recomendations on an alternative

Look up boris vallejo, I don't know if that's his, but if you're into half naked dudes with tigers and Conan swords, he's your guy.
