I've had it !!

interesting - what does he do to them

He turns them into slicing machines.

Actually he did a full flat re-grind and made the blade thinner.

It used to take a little work to get it sharp before, now it is basically maintenance free.

bos heat treated bg42 was by far the most miserable steel i've ever had to sharpen. it took me a full 24 hours of hand sharpening to get it down to 24 degree's. given, strider put like a 50 degree per side edge from the factory, it still took way longer then I thought it would. My suggestion is getting fixed position sharpener and doing the primary edge with it, then moving to stropping to round out the corner made by the flat stone. even with convex edges, it takes more skill then I have to work with such a difficult steel by hand and get a good edge.

also, you might try an alternate hand position if you find that your edges are getting rounded out - I've never been able to hand sharpen with the blade in hand, but I do pretty well with the sharpening media in hand like a file:

As a side note if you Krein it etc it will void Striders Warranty. ;)

If you don't believe me call them BEFORE you have it done.
