I've had my Superleaf for a few days now

I ordered a replacement door for my house and it was shipped direct from the factory and very well crated. As such, it had three sheets of cardboard about 96" x 42" that need cutting up. First big test for the Superleaf at my house. I cut all of it up into pieces mostly smaller than a sheet of copy paper. The knife performed like a champ. The VG-10 held it's edge almost till the end. Of course, the FFG was great. I will say that another 1/4" of cutting edge would have been great but...

I'm still very pleased with this knife as I love the big leaf knives. Maybe Spyderco will do another Manix I sprint in one of the super steels. I'll be first in line for that one for sure.

Good to hear your liking it. I know I'll definitely be getting a Superleaf sooner or later. Judging from all the pics and reviews I've seen it's everything I really wanted the Manix 2 to be...

P.s just to top it off, has any body got a pic of the Superleaf & Chinook II or III handy?? ( for handle comparison)

Here you go.

Thanks for the pic! How find the difference in grips / handling etc. FWIW the Chinook has always been my most comfortable folder by a long shot.

The structure handle of the superleaf feels really great and the ergos of the knife are just fantastic. This knife is not going anywhere even if you have sweaty or even wet hands.

The security of the grip of the chinook is also something I have proven to myself with the cooking oil test. I dipped the knife in some cooking oil and did some cutting drills on my practice dummy. The knife did indeed feel slick but it was still very much secure and controllable.

As for most comfortable grip, I really can't say which is the most comfortable for me. Military, Chinook, Supers(hawk and leaf), stretch, paras(1&2), endura. I find almost all spydies very comfortable for me, excepting only the manix 2 which really doesn't work for me.

Cheers thanks for the input. Similar to you, the Millie's & Para's etc have always naturally suited me, though as far as the more "hefty" full handled folders go, I love the solid build of the original Manix's. Although while I found the Manix's grip beautiful and secure in their "natural" position I also found I was generally limited and bound to that grip (does that make any sense??). The Chinook's grip in comparison for me was far less restrictive and consequently quite agile for a knife of that size, so generally speaking just more versatile. The Superleaf appears to share many of the Chinooks grip attributes but with a blade shape that for me is far more useful.

We are all just crazy about our spydies. :D

Glad you like your SL. Mine has been great so far. And I was pretty surprised by the general beefiness of this knife when I got it, even after hearing as much online :D

I just got the Superleaf in the mail yesterday and I got to say I am very happy with it. I also was not sure I'd like it because of the choil but I'm digging it. I have bought so many Spyderco's lately I don't know which one to put in my pocket. I'll have to get a group photo.

Picked up a Superleaf on disco blowout, and I've had it for a few days now.

I think some of the youtube guys complained about the thumb ramp placement and the sharp liner edges. Turned out the thumb ramp did bite me just at the very top of the ramp. I took a DMT extra coarse diamond stone and smoothed down just the top of the thumb ramp. Felt great after that.

I wouldn't call the liners sharp, but they were vaguely annoying, so I burnished down the edges with a sharpmaker rod. The full liners give a nice smooth and tight feel to the action and lock up.

I bought the Superleaf to keep in the center console of my car, but I've been playing with it a lot, so I'm not sure when it'll get there.

Here's a pic of the ugly job I did on the thumb ramp. (Ugly but comfortable.)

And another pic of the Superleaf and a Para2.

It does have a rather large choil but it seems like it has a similar amount of cutting edge to a para2 while being shorter overall.

The choil is pretty sweet. After you use it, the one on the Para2 seems too small.

Do wish the handle had the bigger screws like the Para2.
