Izula Handle or Wrap? (and why)

KMM, I don't know how you got your hands on one of those, but I'm jealous. It completely depends on the 'you' factor-your ergonomics and intended use. If this thing is for concealed everyday carry in pocket or on a neck lanyard, or as a minimalist survival backup, I'd lean toward the wrap (although I carry my scaled hest in pocket all the time and it's fine). If it's going to be your main companion trail blade, I'd spring for the scales.

unwrapped the Izula I've had on my belt (in a tec-loc) for about a year
put it on my neck over the weekend - love it

did it because my HEST wasn't getting enough use I thought...but the handles showed up too much against my dark suits - so I wasn't carrying the HEST on my belt (HATE crap in my pockets)

wrapped the HEST with the same black paracord off the Izula - worked perfect - love it on my belt - more functionality in about same size pack. Today's suit is blue and it disappears against the black belt. weekends, I don't care.
I'll get pics up soon - no camera today.

I just got the scales, and I like them better than my previous wrap.

Plus, they really look good on the Desert Tan:

When I got my Izula, the first thing I did was wrap the handle. I did this because I enjoy doing paracord wraps, but also because that's what virtually everyone else does with their Izula handles. This weekend, however, I unwrapped the knife to try a different wrap style. Once the cord was off, I simply fell in love with the way the unwrapped, bare handle feels. The knife seems to handle so much better, and I can't believe I didn't notice it when I first bought the knife. I can't really explain it, but I definitely recommend trying the Izula with bare handles.
If you're definitely going to choose between cord or scales, I'd go for the scales; the bare handle feels great and the scales feel great because of the added thickness, but the in-between feeling of paracord just doesn't do it for me.

I have used both, but I like the scales when I am doing fine work with my knife. I just feel like I have a hold of my knife with the scales. Try them both for a while using your knife for different types of work.

I had mine paracord wrapped, leather wrapped, and now just EDC it bare. I'll get the scales eventually.
