Izula info

Actually that photo is wrong. We have our own Ferrocerium rod (not Misch metal) that will be built into a small magnesium rod as the fire starter. I guess I should change that picture out since we were originally going to go with the BCB rod and changed our minds.

I was sort of befuddled about that as well but I figured it was just a mistake in the .pdf documents listed as "front" and "back." That magnesium rod with the ferro on the side looks like one I purchased a long time ago, like about eight years ago from, if I remember correctly, Chris Jankowski's (RIP) company.

It's still going strong after being run through the mill, too. 8-)

Well I have to get 1 even though I got my first RC knife last week. If the price is right I"ll probably even get 2.

Is there any way to possibly get a certain serial number?

I doubt you could pick the serial number ...that would be to complicated
I'd like to have a black#666
and a Pink #777 just for Giggles !
or one of each color #666

I know RAT doesn't have a price available on this yet, but what would you (any members here) ballpark the price will be for one of these?

A wild guess would be just under $100 for the kit, around $50-75 for just the knife and sheath. All conjecture. Only prices posted so far were $15,000, but that was revised upward to $25,000. Somewhere in between $50 and $25,000 would likely be accurate.:D If they are on the high end, they won't sell. But then RC can apply for a bailout of 25 billion or so and we can have them for free along with our free bubbleup and rainbow stew!

Are there any pics floating around of all four colored izula's next to each other. I am definately getting one, maybe two, but just cant decide on the color that I want.

I'm definitely going with the Tactical Pink for this one. I can't wait for these to be ready! Just in time for a Christmas present to myself :)

I don't know about anybody else, but I've been eagerly waiting the arrival of this knife for awhile. It's even become a bad habit of mine to search for "izula" on a daily basis. Well, I'm done ( I know, i'm quitting one week early.) Personally, the late product launch and the completely shrouded msrp has really turned me off. I don't like the idea of a company dangling their "carrot" over the heads of hundreds (if not thousands on BF) of prospective buyers without any inclination of a suggested price(other than $15k and a toe.) I will give RAT credit for building up some historic hype for this little necker; but in the wake of this product launch lies some revelation on how this company sells its products. So, to remedy this itch I've been scratching, I have had my own "izula-type" knife made. With a sharpened blank from Bryan Breeden, the handle drilling done by me, and some kydex by Jeff H.(pix to be posted as soon as the knife gets here in WSS.) I will have my own custom made necker next week (just in time for the dealers to receive their izulas!) all for under $100. So, to answer the question of how much the holy grail costs: since you can't find it, make your own; for about a texas penny. Thanks RAT for giving me the opportunity to make my own.

Note: This isn't a discourtesy to RAT, I know they do a lot of wonderful things for the WSS community, but it is a vociferation regarding the way businesses market and launch their products in today's marketplace. For everyone else's sake: Pray to the accounting gods they won't price skim it!!! Happy Holidays.

I think this is a problem when you "bring people along" in the development of a product. If you just do it and then put it out on the market, the type of sour grapes you have don't happen really. Because it's been out in the open with all of the development, you seem to think it's just "hype."

Good Ole Brian will indeed take care of your needs and I have enjoyed his posts as well as Jeff H's. You sort of soil them a bit by using them as a weapon to bludgeon RAT Cutlery because you didn't get what you wanted when you wanted it.
