Izula or BK11?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I think I am going to order the Izula, in tactical pink, harder to lose in the woods. I am still up in the air about ordering just the knife, or the kit...I'll keep you posted.

I have the OD Green Izula and have thought about adding the Tactical Pink one to my gear also. I think it would match my Pink Spork nicely.

Got my BK11 today and for general camp/survival use I prefer the blade on the BK11. The size is more usefull to me. Like the handle length a little more on the Izula but prefer the width of the BK11. The tip on the Izula is better for delicate work. Since they are so light I'll probably carry both.

Do you have any side by side pics (Izula and BK11) ?
I'm considering getting a neck knife but can't decide between the two!
lol!

I love my Izula. Perfect backup size knife, I have it in my pocket right now and can't even feel it. It's still enough knife to get plenty of work done, though. For a knife of this type I think it's pretty comfortable as well. The Becker is just a bit bigger than a knife I'd like for stashing in my front pocket.

To me the Izula is Perfect... here is a comparison pic, only one I have...

your welcome !

Thanks for posting the picture. I was off the forums most of the weekend so wasn't able to help out.

Yesterday I carried both my Izula and BK11. Cut string and such with the Izula but it wasn't long enough for the veggies I needed to cut for dinner so I used my BK11. It was long enough and did a great job cutting up the medium onion, some zukkini squash and chicken breast.

Hate to break it to ya Pit ,I no longer have the SW,I sold it due to I prefer the Izula over the SW but that is just my opinion...The SW is a great knife from a good company but the Izula to me is better due to the overall value... solid 1095 with lifetime warranty,Great sheath wide range of colors and if you puchase the kit version you get some extra goodies and still cheaper than the SW,so the SW went down the road and a 3 more Izulas came home to me .Black one is my sons, the tan & OD green is mine and the pink is my wifes necker.
The BK11 is the Camillus version...Great knife ; Kabar or Camillus version just alittle large to me,I have medium size mitts the SW & Izula both fit well in my hand ..
Sorry to disappoint you guys ! :D

The Izula is
Overall Length: 6.25"
Blade Length (end of handle to tip): 2.88"
Thickness: .156"
Steel: 1095 Carbon
Weight: 2 ounces without sheath
Finish: Textured powder coat (Black, Desert Tan, OD Green, Tactical Pink)
Blade Width: 1.0"
Grind: Flat

BK11 original .150 inch spec, Ka-bar BK11 .165 inch thick.

Did ya sell the SW just because it wasn't as good value or for some other reasons ?
I just ask because that too is has an unconditional lifetime warranty ( IMO one of the best out there ) and even though 1095 is great steel I prefer 51200, better edge holding and toughness.
I have not used the Izula so was there any other benefits ?

I only sold the SW due to,I do not like the price point on the After market scene and W or w/O a sheath and to me it was strictly cost point.... Well really all three mentioned ,RAT,SW,BK are US made and I know RAT & swamp are life time warranty(not sure on ka-bar BK's).... The steel aspect was not a factor....You know money is tighter for me and I hafta stretch my $$ and buy the best I can get per $$ value and RAT Cutlery fits the bill for me perfectly, Only reason.... I used the Izula the same identical way I use the SW and to me I did not benefit anymore from one than the other (BK,SW,Izula) other than in my pocket book...all 3 will baton (if needed)slice, cut, make traps, fuzz sticks.....etc.. You know I loved my Swamprats...so no dis-respect to any brand..I have owned all and to me it just come down to cost factor nothing more

I've sold some more expencive blades before do to the reasons you listed. Am glad the Izula is working out for you. It's a nice knife for sure.

I did the same thing. The SW was a great knife and I might still prefer the handle over the Izula just for the extra length, but at the price, I could have 3 Izulas. I sold mine and got an OD Izula for me and a pink one for the GF.

I had the original bk11 and gave it away, I hated that knife. It was too thick and the wire cutter kept blistering my hand up. The ironic part is that I gave it to a friend who deployed to Iraq, when he returned the army confiscated it because it had no scales. They said it could be used as a throwing knife so he was not aloud to bring it back into the states.
I recently got the Izula and so far it has really impressed me. I cord wrapped the handle which makes it feel so much better. I also changed the edge angle and made it razor sharp. I have used it in the kitchen and to make some traps and it has deffinately earned its keep.

And just to stir the pot, SwampRat is over rated :)

Izula is a great blade. I wish it had just a bit more handle.

Its all preferance. I just got a skeleton warden and I love it. The handle is the perfect length and shape for my hand. I sold my Izulas because they were just too small in the handle for me. Of course the skeleton warden is even more $$ then a swamp warden, but I like it so to each his own. Might be over rated to some, but not to me.
