This topic comes up every once in a while.

I used to wrap mine, but it got too annoying when the paracord would get wet or gunky.

The cord takes forever to dry and I like to pocket carry my Izula so if the cord was wet and nasty it would get my pants wet and nasty (hehe).

So.... mine is left naked now

On a side note, I guess you know your a knife-nut when the words wet, nasty and naked appear in a post not related in anyway to a female :D:D:D

Ann Arborite! In the Rat forum no less?

Small world. :)

Only for a few more months I'm not a true AAite I'm here for school. I'm a Montana boy and in 5 months I'm Alaska bound! Small world indeed though!

Looks like more of us like em wrapped, but I still prefer mine naked. Good, valid points on both sides of the argument though.

although paracord wrapping is great if you are, lets say killing time in prison :)) But if you use your Izula, the paracord does get skanked up after a while. The RAT DPx H•E•S•T can be wrapped too (I use leather boot laces but a there is something elegant about a nicely shaped piece of steel in your hand.

I just got an izula and decided to wrap it, but left the circle bare. I like to be able to hook my pinky through it so I can have the option of letting the blade hang and then flipping it back up into my hand. I just like having the cord on there should I ever need to use it, and it does make it a little more comfortable.

Smart man. I don't live there but worked in AA for quite a few years. It sucks. :D

I spent 4 years at Umich, and I came to call AA "The People's Republik of Ann Arbor". I was excited to leave, and I was coming back to Detroit. That should say something. Ann Arbor is a little fantasy world, removed from reality and pretty much devoid of attractive girls.

I wrapped mine but not the way the instructions said to because I wanted more size on the sides of the handle.

ideally yes-one wrapped one not. used the orange paracord here too, as the color lends itself to finding if it gets dropped
and ifn ya use it outdoors and in the cold enuf you will "lose" it
not typically a huge fan of bright colors but theres a place for em
of course theres also time n place ya dont want anything to be seen....

There are pros and cons to each, as the others have mentioned. If you are going to use it for hunting, or primarily in these winter months, you may want to wrap it. I dont have an Izula specifically, but in my experience with "naked" knives, steel can get slippery when wet, which can come from any amount of sources (as others have noted, the cord will retain smells). It can also get cold. If you wear heavy gloves, you may find that it slips out of them being so thin and smooth. Cord will help get traction against gloves. So for winter use, I must recommend that the handle be wrapped somehow.

In the summer, dressed down, nothing beats a slip skeletonized knife for a mix of utility and carriability.

Just my opinions on the matter.

Well said. I wrapped mine because I'm going to be using it outside a lot this winter, but I'll likely unwrap it when it starts to get warm in late spring.

personally i like to wrap it. just fits my hand betrer thank naked. plus you get some paracord should the need arise(not much though)
