Given the strong springs that laguioles are known for, how hard is it to open a Latreille knife since the blades often do not have a nail nick?

These four are well sprung; firm but easy to open!!! Even the one with a nick w/o using it!!!
You might call them perfect!!!

Thank you for the info Charlie. As wonderful as Jerome's knives are, I miss the nail nick. Without it, something just doesn't look right to my eyes. It's like looking at a picture of a pulchritudinous woman with a shaved eyebrow. Still obviously beautiful, but off somehow.

Not a big fan of snakes but that one has some wonderful colours and offsets the Lag extremely well. I assume it's not venomous....

You assume correctly Will Power . Milksnakes eat their venomous counterparts like coral snakes and rattlesnakes.
