  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

J had one of those mornings......

Wow, crazy happenings. Good to know you are ok.

Have never even considered the potential danger of a sheath knife on my belt while driving.

I am glad you are able to post about it! That could have turned out a lot worse bro.

Get well soon. You are on our prayer list.

Wow Jake! I'm glad you were able to walk away from that. Don't be in too much of a hurry to get back to work. As soon as the adreneline and drugs wear off, you'll probably hurt like hell.

As far as your crew ribbing you fro having to come save your rear end, just remind them that you jumped aboard to help them, not for them to help you!

HEY!!! I thought you quit smoking!?

Thanks Flix...

Yeah I quit this summer for 2 months...Then started up again.

Im gonna quit again though....For good.

J,

I'm glad you're OK. I wrecked my wife's Durango on an icy bridge last winter.. Those signs that say "Caution - Bridge Freezes First" are correct. I didn't here the end of that for a while.....

Man, I'm glad to hear you aren't hurt badly. I see way too many people do that in my travels.
Take care, let us know if you need anything please.

Sorry to hear about the bad morning and your truck, but glad you're ok. Now I know what it is that has always bugged me about fold over kydex sheaths, especially with skeletonized knives. I never could quite put my finger on it until now. I wonder if a kydex welt would help or if maybe the best fix would be to fold the end under.

It wouldn't matter if there was a welt or not. The force of the blade toward any separation whether leather or kydex would push through. If the kydex was folded at the bottom where the point of the knife sits may work. A sudden stop at 70 MPH causes alot of forward thrust.

I agree scott....The way the knife was sitting in the pocket, the butt was up against my belt, and when it stopped, it kept going through the bottom of the sheath...

Just a fluke IMO..I dont think anything short of a metal guard on the bottom like the USAF survival knives have at the base of the sheath would suffice. Maybe an idea...

If I ever get around to doing kydex like I want to, Im planning on doin some sheaths up like that....

JW,
Glad to hear you're "good."
Yeah, it sucks, but you know as well as anyone that a few cuts and bruises - even a banged up truck gets better. No SCI, no brain trauma - you're good.

Keep your chin up and keep humpin'.

We're with you and you got the Missus - and she still has YOU!

Merry Christmas! I will consider it a wonderful gift to all of us that you're OK.

Jeff

I re-read your first post. Sounds like it was in your front pocket. I can see why it got pushed through the sheath. I always carry fixed blades in my back pocket. Less chance of a problem of it being pushed through.
Scott

Man friend, that's a rough ticket! Very glad to hear that you're alright. Take it easy for a while (a long while) and don't ignore your body. Like you say, could have been much worse!

Thanks Tony, I dodged a bullet man.

Take the gear and blades, gotta take the wife and kids too. ;):D

:

Well in that case, wash those vicadin down with some Jack D and drive on over here.:D

Seriously, I am glad your ok Jake, I know you understand how lucky you are bro, so be safe.

I call you tomorrow if you're around.
