Which Spyderco fills the most roles the best? This is not meant to be a "if you could onyl have one Spyderco" question, that is a different topic really. It is about, what Spyderco do you think can handle the most and most varied tasks in a single knife?

For me, I would have to say the Paramilitary. It is not one of my top ten Spydercos but it is such a stinking workhorse that I keep finding myself using one.

It is strong, light, doesn't make the sheeple poop their pants and has a well designed blade that is fully flat ground.

There are many issues with it that I would change but for all my bitching, I think it is on it's way to being a great knife. I can't wait to see the Para II. I hope they ditch the compression lock and make the handle a little less ergonomic if you know what I mean. A few less bumps and grooves in that darn handle and it might actually be comfortable.

My quick thought one why some of my favorite Spydercos don't get the Jack of all trades award.

Military, blade too long

Police, blade too long and delicate

Delica, too small for some tasks.

Calypso III, too small.

Manix, too large and heavy.

Mini-Manix, still too large and heavy. Same blade size as para but is heavier.

Rescue, love the Rescue but I need a tip for some things.

Centofante 4, love this knife as well and it would be my runner up choice but it is a little lightly built. The Para is stronger.

C44P&S Dyad. From cleaning fingernails to removing splinters to trimming trees, the Dyad will do. It isn't a crowbar or an axe, but it will handle about anything properly in the domain of "knife task".

Wow! Two votes for the ATR! That is kind of surprising. It is a heck of a stout knife and with a frame lock, it is a good choice. Just surprised it has as many fans as it does. Didn't they pull the plug on it?

Manix fits the bill for me. The choil allows for some detail work and then of course it's a great heavy duty workhorse.

Yes they did. Like many Spyderco knives, those who like them are very loyal. Like most Spyderco knives, they are very stout, so one need not buy replacements regularly. So the people who love them buy a few, but not enough to keep the model going. Personally, I have never cared that much for metal handled knives, a prejudice which seems to be growing along with my arthritis as the years roll by.

Endura, big enough for almost any job, light, good steel......I don't need anymore knife. I do prefer the hollow grind of the E1 version and serrations on any and all!
Cheers!

of all my spydies, the one i've been gravitating to frequently is the paramilitary. it's a very "can do" knife.

I have a centofante 2, only for SD tho. For everything, para if you can afford it, for me, I use my ole' ass native.

For me, it would probably be the Delica 4/PE/VG-10. Over the last year or so that I've owned Delica's, they've been the most versatile in what I do. Cost/performance more than anything.

Endura - too large for most things that I do.
Paramilitary - handle is too big and expensive to replace.
Caly 3 - slices nice, excellent user, but also expensive.
Police - too large/slippery/expensive.
Rescue 93mm - nice, awesome cutter, but I do need a point a fair amount.
Centofantes 3 & 4 - love both for slicing, but a little thin bladewise.
Adventura - good cutter, but again it's SS and tends to be slippery.
Native III - handle is just a tad thick.
Native (Wally World) - interestingly, I would probably pick this one next to my Delica's, if I knew I could get them for $40 US regularly. Up here, they are non-existent, but again, I will be going to 'Vegas in May:)

I have other Spydies, and love'em all and will likely buy many, many more as time goes on, but this is what I've found in using them over the time I've been "cuttin' stuff":D Each one has advantages in certain areas, including SE/CE - just the Delica is the one that is doing it constantly, reliably. Nice thing - I think I have most of the specialty areas covered:D

I love my old snap-it! My favorite EDC. Snap it to my front right belt loop, Bang! Perfect. In hand and drawn at a moments notice, Perfect blade, perfect weight.

I wish they would bring that design back!!!Maybe with newer materials? g-10,s30v Ahhhhhh Dreams

Time and time again, I find myself grabbing my Mini-Manix for EDC. I prefer a heavier knife with a flat grind.

Native. Now it's not the knife that I use most but it has it all covered when all situations are considered.

Lightweight
Legality
Steel
Blade shape. I like flat ground blades for their slicing ability. But I don't cut a lot of cardboard or food with my pocket knife. I cut a lot of tubing and sometimes wire by laying the material on the handle and closing the knife. The saber grind gives me the blade strength to handle some pretty hard materials. The native will cut cardboard with the best of them though. Choking up with the choil and laying my thumb on the spine close to the tip as a depth gauge and stop, gives me damn near box cutter performance.

Despite what my username is, my vote would have to go for the millie. I bought a S30v/G-10 version 6 months ago, and use it on a daily basis for anything ranging from in the kitchen to around the house.

It rides very well and gives a lot of knife for the weight you carry in exchange. I would love to try out a BG-42/CF version but my current millie is going strong and I'll opt for the former, if and when this knife is done.

It is definatley a larger knife so I understand where some of you are coming from in regards to that point, but from my perspective you're getting a light, durable, well-built slicer, that you have to worry very little about.

It also has the magical ability to attract other Spydercos to you as i had to buy a Spin as my sheeple knife for public-small cutting usage :p
