Jack of all trades Spyderco?

Native II.

The Salsa is actually a pretty good knife, too, but a bit large and heavy to win for a "just one knife" entry.

I own close to 30 Spydies, and I can't thing of a better "all around" Spyderco then the waved Delica/Endura 4 (pick the one best suited to your grip size and blade length requirements/restrictions). They will flawlessly perform any cutting task you need to accomplish, and they'll open as fast as you can remove 'em from your pocket.

Military without a doubt - on functional considerations. It's like James Hird (or Magic Johnson to you non Aussie rules educated masses) it can go big or small - and it carries like a small knife. Legality/NKP friendliness is it's only issue.

The masses buy a knife to be a jack of all trades. They want it to open boxes and cut an apple, work in the yard and provide some messure of comfort on a dark lonely street.

The masses buy the Delica far more then any other Spyderco .

I have Spyderco catalogs going way back to the Ironstone ones.

They all have quotes like, best selling, most user friendly, all around user,at home on the job or the yard etc.

The answer is...... Delica

I have a Delica and a Native. All my needs are met. All my wants are still a work in progress.

It's somewhat cheating, but I also vote Dyad. It alone offers the versatility of full size plain and serrated edges. It also has a set of good, reliable locks, and is just tough overall. A fantastic value.

My SS worker. Yep an old one but a good one. Has handled everything I threw at it. (In my younger days I think I threw it a couple of times. Sorry guys.) Thats why I love spydies.

The Pacific Salt.
Large enough for big cutting, yet light-weight enough to wear in your swim trunks, and as maintenance free as you can get in a knife.
The H-1 bladesteel is a breeze to sharpen and it gets amazingly sharp.
The extra large thumbhole is awesome too.

Simply one of the best knives around.

I'd say the Salt 1 - completely maintenance free, super-easy to sharpen and takes a fine edge, both the blade and handle material are impervious to salt water and harsh chemicals, thicker tip (compared to the Delica) for light prying jobs, et cetera.

I can't think of anything that this knife can't handle on a day-to-day basis. It could literally last a lifetime in your pocket without any maintenance whatsoever (aside from sharpening).

Once again, the one I have carried for 14+ years- Endura. It was the only Spyderco I carried for a few years. It does it all and then some.

The Renegade was close. I'd still like to see a knife between the Mini Manix and the Calypso III in size. Now that would be perfect so long as its still made the same way with steel liners, steel spring holder, screw construction, four way clip mounting and S30V in a lockback. Then they'd have the knife you seek I think. Basically they have it right now but I don't like the lock. If and when they offer a Para Military lock back I'll be buying more than one.

C44P&S Dyad. From cleaning fingernails to removing splinters to trimming trees, the Dyad will do. It isn't a crowbar or an axe, but it will handle about anything properly in the domain of "knife task".

Well Yab you beat me to the draw on that one. I have been carrying a C-44 big Dyad for almost 2 years now. And I seriously doubt if anything "dethrones" it any time in the near future. It is not only a "Jack Of All Trades Knife" but it is the quintescential Spyderco user's blade of all time to me.

What a genius idea of having a premium design fully serrated blade and a super streamlined, flat grind, Plain edged knife all in the same package.

I have seen and tested double bladed knives that other companies have to offer and so far I haven't seen a close second to the Dyad. The Big Dyad just simply has to come back. It just simply must

Just look at my screen name:D

The Endura fits my big mitts better, but I choose the Delica for it's more sheeple friendlyness:grumpy:

Now a fully serrated Mini Manix, that would be something.

Only read the first post.

Dang, I thought you were asking if Spyderco was the jack of all trades - as far as having a knife for every use.

That would have been a better question because my brain gears were working hard.
