January 2023 BOTM Buck 119 in 3V black phenolic

I hope this isn't breaking any rules, and apologize in advance if a Mod has to delete this post. I just thought I'd drop my hook in the water...

If anyone acquired one of these January '23 BOTM 119s in 3V and is less than thrilled by it, or would just prefer to move on, I'd really like to purchase one at a reasonable/realistic price.

As I posted, just fishin'.

I am not a moderator but if you don't ask, you won't get it for sure. I really wanted the December 2022 but missed it. Someone recently posted one in the Buck for Sale forum for a decent price and I got it. Hopefully, the same will happen for you. Check it as often as you can. Good luck.

Good to see that you finally received yours as I was wondering where your pics were. Yes, it's a great knife and I'm glad that you convinced me that I had to have one. 😉😁
yeah normally when shipped usps its pretty fast. this one came ups and on the ground truck I guess....but its a long way to florida.......

worth the wait. I like this model.

a 5160 or 420hc version would be great..

if at lower price point.....

glad ya got one, Jeff......

If I had a nit to pick with this knife, it's the following;

It appears Buck has switched to an acid etch, instead of stamping or laser etching.
Similar to what Bark River does.

My concern is after a flitz cleaning or general wear all the identifying markings will disappear.
I have several barkies that have become "Sterile" do this method.

I really don't mind the billboard.

To be honest, when I received my new 119, my first thought was: „oh, that’s really cute“ (?!). I didn’t remember the 119 feeling so small … I guess one gets used to larger knives … so today, I’m going for a more substantial Buck. Still love this one, would be cool in 3V. And …. The blade shape feels rather similar to the 3V 119.

Received mine, so honest appraisal:

The Good: Edge bevels are perfect on both blades, has the toothy edge with a tiny bit of burr left over as others have mentioned, this made me very happy as my wife got me a paddle strop for Christmas, so in the evening while watching TV I happily sit and strop blades, just a little stropping and this thing is a lightsaber, I mean wicked shaving sharp, awesome! The blade shape is gorgeous, love it, and I didn't even notice when I was purchasing it that there's no fuller, and that's perfect for this blade IMO. Sheath is nice too.

The Bad: So on one of the blades, there's a long scratch going almost the entire length of the blade, weird scratch that takes bright light to see, and the Buck logo is cockeyed, and looks like the handle maybe had a tiny chip at the top and somebody filled it in with what looks like JB weld/gray epoxy, which would have been fine had it not spilled all over the underside of the guard and stuck there. I was able to scrape the stuff off for the most part, but it ate into the guard some and ruined the finish, I sand papered it smooth and can probably polish it out.

This blade is going to be my user so no biggie really, I guess i'm just nit-picking but maybe Buck can use the info, was just really hoping for that perfect specimen as I have been asking for this blade for a while and intend to keep and use it for many years, I guess maybe i'm being silly since it will pick up much wear in the years to come anyway.

The other blade I had intended to give to my son if the Mrs. didn't claim it, but it's issue is a slightly wonky main bevel that's pretty noticeable, takes a swoop upward towards the spine right before the guard area, the logo is actually straight on this one but that only accentuates the fact that the bevel is off. So I dunno, don't want to gift somebody with a blem and don't feel right selling it with this issue and it's not a good candidate for collectibility.
