Over the years I have noticed that on some brands of jeans that the rivet at the top corner can come in contact with the side of my pocket knife when I clip it to my pocket. Which causes the very edge of the rivet to glide up and down the titanium of the scale causing the sand blasted finish to be…basically ruined.
Of course I didn’t do a before photo of how it looks, hindsight and all that, but it was a bit mucked up.
So to ‘cover up’ the mess I decided to just even out the mess and make it look more intentional 😇 using a piece of scotchbright to even out the errant marks so it blends in. The pocket clip has the usual snail trails from carrying it but those marks from the rivet were pretty ugly by their lonesome.

I have seen some YouTube videos of repairing the sandblasted titanium using sandpaper and a piece of wood to hammer down to make it look like it was sandblasted again but it had varying degrees of success and with this small area plus the fact it would just happen again, I opted for this to make it overall look better.

Have any of you guys and girls have this experience? I also had a Sebenza get similar marks.

I prefer the snail trails to scotch Brite. Snail trails are evidence of carry, use, and love. I gave some aggressive snail trails on the clip of one of my iMambas that was caused by the chain of a swing. I was on that swing with my son. Every time I see those snail trails, it's a reminder to me of being with him. I'll gladly keep those around.

no. I wear mostly wrangler jeans though. I cant get even a thinish knife like the zt0452 pocket clip to touch the rivet. not even close even if jammed over.

I can't imagine how it could touch a rivet.....can ya take pick of knife in pocket of these brand jeans, to show us how it does?

I agree on snail trails which is why the clip wasn’t touched.

And yes the rivet definitely is the culprit, of course my jeans are ‘vintage’ as in pretty old and it’s the edge of the rivet that is making the dug in marks

Edited to add
Jeans are Wrangler and the cloth covering the inside rivet is worn down exposing the metal

im not seeing it. ill admit im slow in this one.........put knife in and show where its hitting the clip, thanks

Speaking of first world problems... ☺️

I wear my shirt outside of my Duluth cargo pants...so I don't worry about the damage to the pants pocket until it actually becomes either an issue or I just feel it's time for a replacement.

maybe time for some new jeans then....
Thanks Dr Obvious 🤣 this was more of a ‘be aware’ type thread so people that see marks and wonder why.
And yes, these jeans will be retired 😇 I do have a tendency to wear things out!

Edited to add this photo as it shows the digging into the titanium just from inserting it a couple times

Took out all my jeans, 6 of them were worn down by the rivet and will be disposed of!
Making me rethink my decision of buying wranglers and going for a different brand lol

But I don’t think it’s a problem that I alone have, so others might want to inspect their jeans as well

You could use some fabric glue and just glue a bit of denim over the rivet. Of course, if you can sew leather, you could sew a fabric or leather bit there as well.

Pocket slip with a clip would work as well. I know a guy who can make them…🤣
