Not supposed to get much above freezing here in NC today with a nice 20 mph breeze. I know that is warm for some of you guys but I'm freezing. I just put on a big pot of squirrel stew and I ain't going outside again today. Chris

-12 here right now. What is squirrel recipe. I want to buy a. 22 and start eating squirrel.

Any way you like to cook chicken, even though it does NOT taste like chicken. This is going to be a stew, I make it just like you make chicken soup, this is the stock, when the meat is tender enough to tear off the bones I will take it off, then add the rest of the vegatables cook till they are done and eat with a hot piece of crusty bread. Good eats in anybodys book, especially on a cold day like this. One of the squirrels in the pot is a big old boar which needs to be stewed for a while or it is tough as an old hat. Chris

Nothing like that squirrel stew for cold. How do you harvest them critters. We used to use Air Rifles to take them down. Miss my D34, it was dead on with predator pellets.

Cold? what are you talking about? It's about 73 here today.

The squirrel stew looks like fun, though.

Thanks Chris. Dawson, party at your place! I'll bring snow!

Ya know, Rocky, I'd go for it. Bright and sunny, with no rain gets boring after awhile (I know it's hard to believe). The only time it has ever snowed here was in 1967, and I was here to see it.

If you can bring the snow, we'll party!

30's cold? Blasphemy.

I love when it is below zero out. Much nicer weather. The coldest it gets here is -15, and I wouldn't mind it a bit if it got colder.

Today it is 20 with 30 MPH winds out.

Wife's Jeep was in the garage & was the only vehicle that would start here today & she took that to work. My truck & the kids cars were outside & wouldn't start. I had to get to the Post Office to ship some knives so ended up taking the 4 wheeler (ATV) downtown. It was refreshing to say the least!

Mmmmmm...squirrel. If the damn grey squirrels around here didn't look like they carry the black death would probably eat a couple. Gave up shooting them years ago after averaging over 30 a month and still having the garden torn apart by them. BTW send all that heat up here, today we got a nice -41(C) windchill.

Hey RB,

Not as cold as at RubberJohnny's, but you're quite welcome to come up here for a hike today. :D (At -41, I think I'd be staying inside cooking stew, as well :()

That's 10 degrees F. in US speak.

Doc

Here it went up into the low 20's F (~-2C) today. But the stiff cold wind still had me making my walk a little shorter today.

it hasnt been bad here lately....30s-40s....a few weeks back it got into single digits at night....even with my longjohns and 25F bag i still couldnt sleep outside! :(

stew sounds good....i made some after thanksgiving.

I am right down the road from August West, and it was bad here today. I spent from 0600 until 1700 outdoors, and it was pushing the clothing I was wearing. On top I had Capilene, long sleeved shirt, 2nd shirt, Filson wool vest, 300 fleece jacket, NF Gortex parka. I am from NH and until I lived here in NC, I was under the false impression that it did not get cold here - wrong. Now I'm by the woodstove drinking Guinness
