Jeez it's cold!!!!

I am the only person I know stupid enough to leave Texas to spend two weeks at Christmas in western Pennsylvania.

It's only -30 C this morning with calm conditions, seems warmer than yesterday's -32 with the wind. Good weather for X country skiing. Wood furnace is hungry, running constantly. The oil furnace hasn't run for over a week, as the wood furnace is kept full. I only use the oil if it's mild out, and have to leave the house for the supply run.

Hey Huck!

Where are you? Anywhere near Fargo?

We were getting close to -30, hopefully it won't be so cold tonight!

When I woke up this morning it was 62 in the house. I almost had a chill. Supposed to get up to 74 today so can't decide if I'm going to go for a hike, BBQ, or hop on the motorcycle. Maybe I'll do all. Damn these winters are tough.

I know what you mean, JCav — winter is tough around here. I actually had to put on shoes a week or so ago: the ground was that cold. It was 63 or 64 in here when I woke up this morning. I might have to start closing the windows at night until it warms up again.

Winter can be brutal.

It was -46C with the wind chill at 0800 on January 1. You gotta love the cold to live here :D.

32 with a windchill of 19 doesn't sound so bad in MD, reading this thread.

Oh hell, I'll complain, it's cold! The wind was blowing so hard yesterday, I couldn't get any air in! What did get in made my chest hurt. I cut some firewood, found out that yes, the new Carharrt I got for myself does in fact do very well in the cold for work, and ran back inside!

New skill to work on for winter? Trying to light a campfire in severe wind.
