That's weird! I didn't renew.
I want to say that the rudeness shown on this thread is not HOG-like... at all. Is this how we treat each other, with disrespect?

Lighten up Frances.

Its only the intarnet! :p

NO... :thumbdn:

Folks, it's one thing to joke around good-naturedly, another thing entirely to become rude & disrespectful towards a person's preferences. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean that you have to bash it.

Watch it.

What a train wreck of a thread.

I can SEE that most of you have never even held a Chisel ground knife from your responses... Remember boys and girls... It's about geometry. I don't think a chisel ground .33 chuck of steel will be an efficient cutter neither is a FFFFAT Busse knife... They will both squish a tomato. They can both chop really well however. Personal preference here... If anyone wants to do a comparison of a Fikes chopper and a busse go for it. I'm sure the fikes with it's efficient geometer will out cut the busse hands down. It won't be bown proof but it will come close... Good luck boys.

Where is the disrespect?

No one is attacking any maker or any one posting. Simply giving personal opinions of a knife design.....

Lycosa is a highly respected member here, I really don't think anyone attacked him. Are we not allowed to give our personal opinions about knife designs?

Well, I own a couple chisel-ground knives. Some Japanese chef knives are chisel-ground, scalpels, and others. Because the inclusive angle is less than a double-grind, these blades can be very sharp.

Really, though, I prefer convex-grind, or convex on one side and flat on the other (convex chisel?)

C'mon, G... There is a big difference between stating one's opinion and opinion overkill. 4 posts from one poster and a "demotivational poster" image tossed in as one of them...really? This along with thread derailment and rudeness that even the OP felt necessary to point out. I arrived at the same conclusion and stated my opinion about that along with a warning to watch it.

Be honest....you laughed when you read the Demotivational poster!!!:D:thumbup::thumbup:

We are all grown ups here (level of maturity is debatable:D), and a little "heated" disagreement can still be constructive. More incentive for Lycosa or any other Chisel Lovers to "Bring It" for their side of the discussion.

Chevy......

12 gauges
.308s, .45s, Brunettes

Nothing to debate.....those are Alphas and Omegas!!!
:D

Actually...no, I didn't. I get the humor, but by then...well, let's just say the timing was off. Debates are good, but a new thread could have been started for that. This thread was, IMO, in good fun over a long running request that has turned into a "private joke" amongst us all on this forum (like me and the stalker humor :o).

If Lycosa had just gone to BLADE... ;) He'd have his chisel grind Busse! :D ...It's all his fault! :foot::D

Oh... BTW. Chevy! ;)

I have slashed one person with a knife in my life. Pretty badly too. I hate myself for it. At least I have a cool scar from it. :p

Lycosa: You want you a chisel grind then you get yourself a chisel grind and don't worry about other people's opinions. What works for some does not always work for others and visa verse.

I messed up this guy really bad. It was horrific. I slashed him repeatedly and with several knives. Damn, that hurt... :foot::o :D ...Like you, i have the scars to prove it! :o:o

(now that I know "self mutilation through error" counts...! :D)

I have been carrying chisel ground knives for over 20 years they are a very old design so the fad part is just not correct.

Ernie Emerson was influenced by the late great Phill Hartsfield who was a master of this design

I have found in certain applications these blades cut exceedingly well and are extremely sharp very aggressive cutters

In fact when I can't carry a large knife I carry a chisel ground Kwaiken and would bet my life on it
