I have been carrying chisel ground knives for over 20 years they are a very old design so the fad part is just not correct.
C'mon, G... There is a big difference between stating one's opinion and opinion overkill. 4 posts from one poster and a "demotivational poster" image tossed in as one of them...really?This along with thread derailment and rudeness that even the OP felt necessary to point out. I arrived at the same conclusion and stated my opinion about that along with a warning to watch it.
Chisel grinds are trendy garbage that a lot of makers put on their blades now to seem "cutting edge", no pun intended. There are VERY few applications where a chisel grind is favorable.
I understand if it's not supposed to serve any utility purpose, but why neuter it anyway, then become obsessed with a garbage grind because it can "get by"?
It's a weird obsession, its like saying "I only technically need one testicle, so lets get rid of the other one".
As for the first statement and your comments about "chisel grinds are trendy garbage" and telling me it's the same as saying "lycosa you like trendy garbage, that's somewhat reaching. I hate coffee, I think COFFEE IS GARBAGE. Did I just tell all you coffee drinkers that you like garbage and you're all offended? As for saying he's "obsessed", maybe that was a bit presumptuous, but when someone posts over and over his love of chisel grinds, and how busse needs to make a chisel grind, and how everything should be chisel ground, you start to see a trend.
What's funny is, I was planning on going to blade this year, I thought it'd be cool. More and more it's seeming like less fun and more possible drama than anything. THIS COMPANY SELLS KNIVES WITH SKULL CRUSHERS, MEANT TO CRUSH THE PROTECTIVE LAYER OF BONE AROUND YOUR BRAIN, I honestly do not understand why every little thing offends everyone. Like I said, alternate universe.
Jaxx, I understand, you don't like me. I don't blame you, nor do I care in the smallest bit. It's fine, we're not buddies, but this is getting ridiculous. I posted a string of smiley faces (not the banned ones) a while back to someone who completely trolled me and flipped out/cursed etc.. You told me I should "edit" the smileys as there were just "too many" and it was insulting. I laughed, because the notion was silly that you were trying to reprimand me for putting smiley faces after someone told me to go F myself. Now we come here, I like Lycosa, but since I've been here he has posted "squeal talk", and "chisel grind!", for what seems like 1000x, which is also fine. He posted a thread on a forum, didn't write it in crayon on his bedroom wall. I offered an opinion and the Doodoo (I'll talk in baby talk as to not offend anyone) hit the fan. You seem to think we're insulting him because we don't like Chisel grinds? Should I have said "Yaaay Chisel grinds!!!!!" or are we not allowed to offer up opinions. You're acting like he invented the chisel grind, or I insulted his children. This is a forum filled with adults, but in recent months, it's not become fun anymore. I understand it's a G rated forum (As should any company who sells knives with skull crushers and metal knuckles), so cursing is not allowed, but now hypersensitive people control everything that is said. Any time there is any discussion where there is a disagreement, it somehow gets locked. Out of all the forums on this board, manufacturer wise, this has somehow become the most sensitive.
I went overboard with my demotivational poster? Are you kidding me? I wasn't saying Cosa wasn't useful, I was comparing the bent fork to a chisel grind. It's like you read everything I say in a parallel universe where it gets twisted in your head. I like to consider myself a good member of blade forums, and I have NEVER had a single issue with any member of staff here besides you, and only in this forum. Honestly, it's juvenile at best, despite it being a "g rated" forum, we're pretty much all adults here, and when a little discussion (and joking) about a grind of a knife starts getting "warnings" from a moderator, everyone needs to step back and rethink things. I love bladeforums, but people representing this company are making me question my like for this subforum.
Step back, this is a knife forum, not a cancer awareness forum, not a Harvard law study group forum, it's supposed to be fun. If you think I was disrespectful to Lycosa, I apologize to him, but the whole singling me out thing because you have your name in red and you don't like me, is a little ridiculous. I know you're probably going to read my post, misinterpret it and put a little red thing next to my name, but honestly, what did I do wrong? I was never personally insulting to Cosa, just half ground knives.
That's weird! I didn't renew.
I want to say that the rudeness shown on this thread is not HOG-like... at all. Is this how we treat each other, with disrespect?
